I would like to see Nelly Furtado at a Chicago festival next year. She was at Lolla this year. Just as a guest performer at Perry's right? Like I don't think it was announced ahead of time. |

Overall not my fave - I love Duran Duran but they just ended a huge tour so it’s not like a big get or anything. My partner likes it, though, and it’s enough interesting stuff (plus it is easy 1-day fest to do from Seattle) we’ll probably be there. |

I went to college with the grandson of the then head of the Mormon Church. He was a small time dealer, and he was best friends w/ one of two guys I shared a three bedroom apartment with that was across the street from the college, but I and the grandson did not necessarily get along. Two Mormon missionaries knocked on our door one afternoon when he happened to be visiting, and he put them through their paces, and knew what to say to make them uncomfortable, because he wasn't very religious at the time. One summer when I was home in Chicago and working, he crashed the whole time on my mattress, without either of my two apartment mates telling me until the fall semester. He passed away a couple of years ago, after putting his college engineering degree to use in California. For years, whenever I run into latter day saints members in Chicago, I name drop him, and they're always super, super impressed. |

Several of those folks are writers, Jessamine Chan is one I recognize. My guess is those sets will be readings or Q&As.
