Maybe not a popular opinion, but if the Killers played the album in reverse order, I think it would be fine. I mean, 4 of their hits are on side 1 of Hot Fuss.

usher and the killers both doing ill-conceived album sets in las vegas...we need to tell people it's ok to be a singles artist Legitimately would pay significantly more to see the killers play their last two albums and their hits than a hot fuss album. I will unfortunately pay way too much money for whatever tour Usher announces after the Super Bowl Agreed, they play the big hits from Hot Fuss every show anyways. The other tracks don't do a lot where I really like the two newest albums.

The Friday of the second weekend of Innings is a really solid fest day  So I may be going to this? My Dad gets emails from Innings Fest since we went to the inaugural edition, and he wants to do a short Spring Training trip around this weekend. Need to check in with my work, but otherwise I'll be there? Should be a good time! |

On a related note - as someone who has never knowingly listened to DMB, what should I hear to get familiar? Wanna give him an honest chance, so any studio or live stuff is welcome.
Also, I guess I'll be biting the Noah Kahan bullet after all. I'll faithfully report back my findings.

Need to check in with my work, but otherwise I'll be there? Should be a good time! It's a nice fest. Weather in Phoenix is great around then, didn't feel too crowded, baseball theme is fun. I really like that Friday lineup- Turnpike, Charley Crockett, Shane Smith, and Kaitlin Butts are all great. I've also realized I like Chris Stapleton and he'd probably be a fine headlining set. Also check out Jade Bird on the Saturday, I actually saw her at this fest when I went in 2022 and she was one of my favorite sets. |

I'll faithfully report back my findings. i am happy to whittle this down for you but you can poke around it for a little while and report back on if/what you like i know you like jammier stuff, which you aren't going to find a lot of with DMB (at least actual interesting jams that go anywhere), but longer early songs like Seek Up, Say Goodbye, Lie in Our Graves, Two Step might be your thing. i think the best live release front-to-back is probably Live Trax 7 Hampton, or Live Trax 8 Alpine their best studio album is Before These Crowded Streets none of their studio stuff is worth listening to compared to live counterparts edit: some of the bigger hits that are also live staples: jimi thing dont drink the water warehouse grey street rapunzel |

My go to live album is Live In Chicago (98) because I've been going through a big Victor Wooten phase for now two years running for some reason. DMB albums after the first couple are almost always in an active battle with their production and their live albums generally tend to have the hits. Have only seen DMB once (have seen Dave solo 3 times somehow lol) but it was a fantastic show. Gonna be setlist dependent a bit always though like any jam band |

If you just want to learn the songs, I’d listen to any of their first three albums, which are all perfectly fine records of a particular era. Obviously the value of DMB is found in the live experience, though I imagine that’s a pretty daunting task to take on.

I agree with whoever said Before These Crowded Streets is their best album. I recall the bro crowd they had built up sort of recoiling at that record, which is a pretty good indicator they were doing something right.

yeah I guess its a fair warning to say that not only will you be seeing DMB in phoenix Arizona but you will be seeing DMB in phoenix Arizona at a spring training music festival so you must harness the legendarily cursed vibes to enhance not detract from your experience. its part of it.

I've also realized I like Chris Stapleton and he'd probably be a fine headlining set. his mood has been kind of miserable both times i've seen him. the first time was probably because the set was delayed due to a power outage and then someone threw a beer that almost hit him like right after he got on stage. the second time was probably because the set was truncated in advance due to weather. but he and the band still sounded good those times. |

oh monasterymonochrome you'd also be way into the dave & tim duo performances i think live at luther college and live at radio city are both really great in different ways; i probably prefer radio city to be honest. amazing mix. both official releases / on spotify i think dave matthews is a fairly underrated acoustic guitar player so when he and tim are the only instrumentalists the music takes on a different character. dave gets a little buried in the mix of the live dmb stuff. |

I haven't listened to this in a while, but it was my favorite DMB album by far. Crash had it's moments too (I think Two Step might be my favorite DMB song). And I definitely gave that Live at Luther College album a lot of play back around the time it came out too. |

Booked a refundable airbnb near Lightning in a Bottle so I guess that's definitely happening. I know it's a pretty camping focused fest but I was still surprised by how cheap the options were within a twenty minute drive. Gonna hold off on passes and see what happens with the market.
