In terms of the more underrated states:
South Dakota
Kentucky
Maine
Montana
Louisiana
Unfortunately there's not much to do in those states (outside of Nola, obviously). All very pretty drives, though.

For that reason I kinda like Mississippi? The northern part is a nice drive through the Desoto forest and I liked Biloxi.

I did not expect to see Missouri pop up on anyone's list. I've spent so much time in St. Louis the last ~3 years I can drive through it without GPS basically. Kansas City is neat too They did vote for Trump though, so that takes them down a few notches |

I did my junior year in high school here, and 15 years later I still have some great friends who live there. So I'm pretty covered here. |

We did a summer in Cuenca in college and only spent a weekend in Quito. Cuenca would be cool, but I think I'd rather the larger city if I was gonna hunker down somewhere. |

It's a great city. It's not as clean as say Lima, but the scenery is gorgeous. Woke up every morning to the view of Cotopaxi from my apartment building. Traffic sucks, and there's a lot of poverty, but a great place nonetheless.

Y'all better go turn on Electr-o right now Seriously. I've never understood the love for And Then Nothing... I'm not as big of a fan of slow-YLT as noisy/jammy-YLT, so that is why I guess. On that tour, they did 2 seated shows at Metro, about two months before I got married. I went the first night, and was pretty bored most of hte time and yelled for them to play Cherry Chapstick, but Ira said they would do it the 2nd night. I couldn't afford to go to both shows though  |
