In conjunction with my post in the upcoming shows thread today, here's my 5 top acts I've seen prior to their becoming famous (or infamous) under a new name:
1. Dan Whitney, now known as Larry the Cable Guy. 2. Tripping Daisy, who became The Polyphonic Spree. 3. [Jam band] Llama, who became [mainstream country band] the Cadillac Three. 4. The Candy Butchers, whose Mike Viola became the lead touring guitarist in Panic at the Disco. 5. Boyz from the Hood Foundation Rosemont show with Common Sense and Tung Twista, who are now Common and Twista.

Fun story: Senior year of high school, I basically reworded Downeaster Alexa as a poem for an assignment in my English class. My teacher, who had pretty much just found out that he wasn't getting hired back the next year, didn't give a shit and gave me an A.

Wait I forgot born to run and mothership connection Edit: and born to be with you wow what a year Yea this year seems unreasonably stacked. I also forgot my favorite bluegrass record New Grass Revival's Fly Through the Country came out in 1975 too. I'd probably slot it 9th.

1. White Album 2. Revolver 3. Abbey Road 4. Sgt. Pepper 5. Magical Mystery Feel like they're all interchangeable tho tbh. Going to need to hear why Let It Be is #1 Wrote this up in the 70s thread before making this post. Sometime in the five minutes in-between I decided to just send it and make Let It Be #1 - on account of I just like it most for where I'm at with the music I love right now. "-- Beatles - Let It Be: Look, I know this isn't the "best" Beatles album. It's not the most important Beatles album. But lately, I think it's become my favorite Beatles album. Or at least it's the one I actually listen to the most. I love the live sound. The sound like an honest-to-god band again! They even sound like *gasp* they're having fun?! The hits are some of their all-time best (Let It Be, Across the Universe Get Back - especially). The vocal performances are stunning (I Got A Feeling!). The silly throwaway tracks make me smile. And it has "Two of Us," a song that Emma and I came suuuuper close to making our first dance song. Yeah yeah yeah, if I relistened to their whole discog for the umpteenth time, I would probably rank it #3 or #4. Abbey Road probably edges is it. Revolver is pretty unimpeachable. But this is one I never tire of hearing. Riding nowhere. Spending someone's hard earned pay."
