Kinda shows that maybe a more curated lineup with a focus towards the roots of a festival is better for ticket sales than rehashing the same lineup that you see at every other major festival nationwide? *looking at you Lolla*

To be fair this is an unsourced rumor that is referencing a "tickets available" number that doesnt even put forth an actual tally.
Its like an election night rally touting Bonnomentum

Lolla hasn’t had anywhere near that problem moving tickets in any year.

Lolla hasn’t had anywhere near that problem moving tickets in any year. I know, and Bonnaroo's two awful years were when they adopted the 'Book everyone that is on every other lineup' attitude. Then they shifted back to a more curated lineup and they've sold out every year since. Lolla hasn't had the same massive dropoff that Roo did those years, but they clearly had trouble moving tickets last year.

Is the Roo lineup this year even that much of a return to their “ roots”? I just looked at it again it’s a hodgepodge of everything+ Oysterhead.

I wasn't taking a swipe at Bonnaroo and I dont doubt that they're in a healthier place. But by the looks of their lineup it definitely seems cheaper/smaller than peak Roos, and I would think they're probably tracking to their scaled expectations.
But I think its spin to suggest - Vintage Roo Vibes = Vintage Roo Attendance.

But I'm interested in the other question - if Lolla was going back to their "roots" in 2020 - who are you suggesting would be appropriate?

Gambino, Solange, Post, Kacey, the National, Lonely Island, Cardi, and Brandi are all absent from a lot of big festival lineups this year and help Roo stand out imo edit: i don't think Tool ended up on any other lineups either?

Tool/Oysterhead/Tame Impala/King Gizzard + px4, billy string, Marcus king etc is about as rock Jam band guy a lineup as possible. I guess it’s missing Widespread Panic

Agree it’s less going back to its roots but rather curating it’s lineup more than just a general age demographic.

So I have never been to Roo so I'm not going to claim to know much other than what I read online etc., but the Roo Subreddit last year was pretty excited that their campgrounds we extended back out to where they used to be during 'Vintage Roo' days. I'd say that's a pretty good indication that their ticket sales were back up in the high numbers.

Who in their right mind was celebrating the return of BFE? Nothing like an hour walk to and from Centeroo. Forget your wallet? Whoops! No Phishing for you after all, but enjoy your $1 grilled cheese

Pearl Jam When Lolla started it was alternative music for the younger generation. Pearl Jam in 2020 is a dad rock stadium band. It would be like booking The Eagles for the first Lolla.

No. Every act that I didn't know and enjoyed is onThursday.. neat every act I "discovered" was a an awful dj or awful rapper. Some singer/songwriters in there but mostly trash.
