they look fine, just really basic. each one is copy and pasted from the other with some images and copy updated. the lolla website at least used to have more pages of festival history and initiatives and stuff. now it's a really simple 4 link toolbar.

pitchfork fest's site is similarly simple but at least has some festival identity incorporated in the design.

Unless I'm mistaken, LN has used the same format on all of their sties for a few years now. I definitely remember Bonnaroo/Lolla/ACL being the same layout for a while...

Not sure if these are being discussed elsewhere, but I've really been appreciating the "From the Vault" series they've been doing every Thursday. The sound mixing on last night's RHCP set wasn't the best, but it was very cool to see a set from back in 2006 -- to go from a sea of people (and lots of crowd surfing) and no stage production for a headliner beyond basic lighting to the security, structure (VIP areas/tents/etc.), and on stage visuals we expect now.

Hoping they maybe toss some of the touring Lolla footage in the mix eventually, but this is still pretty great.

all I remember from the rhcp lolla 2006 set was finally getting to see frusciante on guitar, and also, running into doso near where we were standing in the south field.

It was good, better than when I saw them open for Staind, Static-X, Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots at the Allstate Arena in 2001. I remember even then in my youth being aware of having to catch Cher's son doing the spooky stuff.

That was just around New Year’s. I feel like I was experiencing it first hand and I was saying to myself, “You have to decide if you want to live. If you want to live you’re gonna have to fight for your life.” I could breathe but the air wouldn’t do anything, I was still suffocating. So I decided I want to live, I want to go on. And I feel that might have been the moment of pivot. I got better after a few weeks.[But] the world had gone to fucking hell. It hurts to see all this happening. And as a performer you don’t know what to do. So [my team] introduced me to a social media expert. All roads lead to center so I’ve got Lollapalooza, Kind Heaven, Porno For Pyros and Jane’s Addiction. And they started to work with me on social media. Being that everybody is home the opportunity is there for them to listen to music when they didn’t have time before. So that’s what everybody’s doing. They’re going back to their record collections and they’re going back and looking at documentaries about things. I’m sure you’re doing the same thing, I know I am. And in that I saw a little light. So we started to remotely do management meetings, remotely put together an incredible box set, new things for Lollapalooza since we can’t actually do the concerts. So what can we do? And this is it. We can’t be together but we have this amazing machine that is the computer and this amazing web we have woven, the World Wide Web, where we can communicate. And we can spread our message. I just got to work, it made sense. Get to work, you can get the message anywhere to anyone at any time now. So make sure that you’ve got a good message and I just started working with remote ideas that people could use to pass the time.

If the festival is forced to cancel because the city won't allow it, the event's insurance policy kicks in. If they cancel without the city having made an announcement first, it's a voluntary cancellation and they lose whatever money they've put into it.

So it's really a waiting game. Live nation just cancelled a July country music fest in Michigan called Faster Horses the other day after acting like it was still on through all of this. It's fairly clear the state shut it down.
