I imagine they still had to deal with getting permission from artists. Yes, that's always been the hangup for not playing the footage otherwise. They must have been able to come to some sort of agreement given the circumstances.

They polled the subreddit to get an idea of what people would like to see and itās insane how little it actually matches what was requested The funny thing about that is I had heard they had a lot of the preliminary work already done before that was posted. So most of the archived sets were pretty much locked. I'm sure there were a few they managed to slot at the last minute, but it's certainly a weird thing to ask if you don't have much ability to act on it. Also, the person I know who seemed plugged in on this said it'll run from 5 PM CT - Midnight CT each night and that shows will be available for on demand viewing for 72 hours after they air. And now for the big ol' grain of salt bonus item, we talked briefly a while back about who was supposed to play this year and they had heard much of what we expected (Foo Fighters, Kendrick, The 1975, Lizzo) with one fun surprise, Dua Lipa. In the alternate universe where 2020 isn't a nightmare, that set would have been incredibly fun.

Some more infos off of billboard: "Among the classic sets from the vaults are ones from LCD Soundsystem, Metallica, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ellie Goulding, Run The Jewels, Lorde, Alabama Shakes, Tove Lo, Paul McCartney, Chance The Rapper, OutKast and Arcade Fire, among others. There will also be new original live content from Alison Wonderland (Live Set), Carnage, H.E.R., Kali Uchis, Kaskade, Louis the Child, Nghtmre, Pink Sweat$, Saymyname, Tank and the Bangas, The Neighbourhood, Vic Mensa, Yungblud, Zhu and more.
Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot will pop in throughout the weekend to host conversations with Lolla co-founder Perry Farrell and LL Cool J, with Farrell in the mix chatting with friends including Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, Public Enemy frontman Chuck D, Matt Pinfield and others. Farrell will also head up a Kind Heaven Orchestra performance featuring Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, a David Bowie tribute with pianist Mike Garson, the first Porno for Pyros reunion in 24 years, and other surprises."

I imagine they still had to deal with getting permission from artists. For some, but probably not that many. I'm sure any artist that doesn't have the clout to write their own contract gets a "we own this footage" clause, which likely includes some big names before they were big names.
In fact, I'm sure the only reason we've never seen the terrible Lady Gaga BMI Stage performance is because she bought it back as soon as she could.

Seems like there's a fair number of bands who will play sets live (including Porno for Pyros which I feel is really lost in this thread here)

I'll probably watch but I'm over it.

Is scarypoolparty actually good or is this a goof? I am very gullible. The real answer is that munki tried to peer pressure the entire board into going to see something called scarypoolparty that was during a surprisingly non-contentious timeslot and I don't think anyone went with him (I saw Pink Sweat$ and I definitely could have seen a scarypoolparty in hindsight). The rest of the weekend was spent talking about how good scarypoolparty and I still haven't done any research regarding whether or not he's doing a bit

I was familiar with him from watching American Idol, on which he was a runner up that year. Super talented guy, but not anything I really thought to be board-friendly. But then the set happened, and it was nothing like what I expected. It was his first performance with a full band, that included Mute Math's drummer, and it was the heaviest rock set I saw all weekend (which isn't saying much, but included Chevelle). I'm not sure if it was great or just felt great because it caught me off guard. He has since put out an album that captures that sound on some tracks, but is relatively chill overall, and I legitimately enjoy it.

Nope, these agreements typically only cover a one time airing of the performance. Anything beyond that requires the agreement from both sides. That's the reason Coachella had very little to share for their anniversary celebration and didn't just unleash every performance they covered in the documentary. And it's why you don't see Lolla archiving full sets or selling packages that include set recordings. With that in mind, it's impressive that Lolla was able to pull this off, especially given some of the acts involved. Shows me that they were likely laying the groundwork for this possibility long before the plug was officially pulled on this year's fest.

going to wait in line at the DMV would suggest the deerfield or lake zurich office, rather than elston ave. if you want relatively faster service.
