I can understand if anyone isn't a fan of Pearl Jam, to each their own. But pretending that Lana would be a better live option if you're even a casual fan is one of the more hilarious takes ever given on this board. Good times.

I think a lot of people on this board would have a lot more fun than they think they would at a Pearl Jam fest set.
It's not the deep, crazy Wrigley setlists. It's bangers from a band that bangs.

Just looked at a Pearl Jam setlist from a festival and I counted 7 songs I would like to hear vs a full set of Lana Del Rey songs that I would like to hear.

Just looked at a Pearl Jam setlist from a festival and I counted 7 songs I would like to hear vs a full set of Lana Del Rey songs that I would like to hear. Fair; this is the main set of their Mad Cool performance: Release Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town Given to Fly Lukin Corduroy Why Go Animal Even Flow Mind Your Manners Lightning Bolt Eruption Jeremy Can't Deny Me Do the Evolution Wasted Reprise Better Man w/ Hunger Strike tag Porch there are a collective 10 minutes of that set that aren't otherwise classic moments of regular PJ sets. I know its ridiculous to pose this to non-Pearl-Jam-fans, but if you were even mildly entertained by the first 20 minutes of this set, I have no idea how you'd eventually walk away. PJ shows weave so much slow/fast together, the shows feel like the marathons that they are. These fest sets are like PJ on cocaine for the most part. Always on.

All that said, I want to be present when PJ goes GTF > Lukin > Corduroy > Why Go > Animal > Even Flow at a festival and someone says "alright let's go check out lana del rey"

There's three major categories as far as bands at this fest goes let me break it down a little
BANDS I WOULD NOT SEE: These are the bands that I would make every effort to be at the opposite end of the park for. This includes Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns N Roses, Tool, 21 Pilots, and Foo Fighters. These bands are all the exact same to me mentally.
BANDS I WOULD SEE ONLY IF THERE WAS LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE THAT I LIKED GOING ON AT THE TIME: These are bands that I probably liked in high school and don't care for now, or bands that have a few songs/albums that I like and would be interested in seeing a bit of that, especially since I probably wouldn't pay what it costs to see them. These still count as an overall positives on a lineup for me. This includes Pearl Jam, Coldplay, and probably some other bands that I'm not thinking of.
BANDS THAT I LIKE: Unlike all the other bands listed here, these are good bands. They include good bands that I like. Thank you.

I'm just trying to express that it's very possible someone who is less interested in Pearl Jam than me would likely have a significantly better time at Lana.

I'm sure I'd recognize them when I heard them but I know three songs from that PJ setlist.
That being said I'd probably see them before Lana because they fit in the rare category of wouldn't buy a ticket to their show so will probably not get a chance to see them again if they were at a fest.

I'm a big fan of both and I certainly listen to Lana more these days so my opinion is probably the only credible one but unless she fixes her show I think Pearl Jam is a way better call. They will tailor their fest sets accordingly.

I mean, what if I just really dislike Nirvana though. Ignoring Pearl Jam is one of my only outlets.

The sad part for me is we're doing all this talk about PJ, and we're actually going to get RHCP

and we're actually going to get RHCP one of my goofy thoughts while watching ace frehley shred yesterday at joe's rosemont with tix we won, was that he has been able to outlive his fellow junkie, hillel slovak, by more than three decades.

My brain is still saying top 2 will be: G N R and Lady Gaga
Earlier in the year arena tours by big crossover pop acts: Billie eyelash, Post Malone
Success of Balvin last year means good liklhood of: Bad Bunny
Someone confirmed: MCR
Past multiple repeat headliners who are active: KOL, The Killers
8/9 spot alternates: Lizzo, Lana Del Rey, Cage The Elephant,
Guns N Roses * Lady Gaga * Post Malone *MCR Billie Eyelash * Bad Bunny * KOL * LDR
Lizzo * Cage The Elephant * Marshmallo * Blues Traveler
Lolla actually sells out this year
look at that easy enough

I could only see them booking GnR if they're going to make a conscious decision to target an older audience.
