Ok campers, rise and shine! — and don't forget your booties 'cause it's cooooooold out there today. 50. Depeche Mode - Violator (1990) Mean: 68.00Personal Jesus and Enjoy the Silence were pretty inescapable during their time. I don't remember that album being buried too much. - uv telling audiobully he was wrong 49. Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle (1993) Mean: 69.80Doggystyle being the best rap album of the '90s caught my eye. 48. MF DOOM - Operation Doomsday (1999)
Mean: 70.60"What does this installment’s doomsday plot say about our culture (obsessed with paramilitary and civilian violence) and our politics (obsessed with controlling government oversight)?" - Armond White, National Review 47. Sleater-Kinney - Dig Me Out (1997) Mean: 59.53Also at a very sparse front of the crowd when I'd been standing at the barrier for like over an hour some woman mid-set wearing a Ride t shirt tries to shove past me to film them, then insists I'm a "poser" and tries to quiz me on Ride trivia questions. When I proceeded to answer her questions correctly she just started shrieking over me and waving her arms in my face. She was also such a "hardcore fan" that she felt the need to yelp at me over their entire set instead of just watching them. Really getting sick of olds and short people that feel entitled at concerts. The exact same thing happened at Sleater Kinney two years ago. 46. Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine (1992) Mean: 72.70 45. Pearl Jam - Vs. (1993)
Mean: 72.80
Man, now you guys have me reminiscing about the olden days, like the time Pearl Jam came to Kansas for VS and tickets were $18.50 with a $1.00 service fee. I knew some people who were pissed off at having to wait all night, so they got out of line a few hours before the tickets were on sale despite the fact that they were close enough to have definitely scored tickets. They were definitely sorry later. 44. Yo La Tengo - Elect-o-pura (1995)
Mean: 61.17 43. Silver Jews - American Water (1998)
Mean: 73.40 42. Beastie Boys - Ill Communication (1994)
Mean: 61.50
it took me 20 yrs after license to ill was released (even considering I owned it on cassette for a while) to appreciate white rappers the beastie boys. it'll take me a lot longer for me to appreciate white rapper lil peep, because he's no beastie boys. 41. U2 - Achtung Baby (1991)
Mean: 92.75

I feel like everyone had a different YLT album on theirs so a bit surprised Eletro is on there this high I held myself to one per artist on my list, and I think choosing among Electro, Painful and I Can Hear the Heart... was the toughest call. All on roughly equal footing for me. Blue Line Swinger might have tipped it.

40. Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill (1995)Mean: 65.33
I saw Pearl Charles tonight and it was like Alanis Morissette fronting the Eagles 39. Hole - Live Through This (1994) Mean: 68.67
Counterpoint: Courtney Love is a hoax 38. Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister (1996) Mean: 82.40 37. Genius/GZA - Liquid Swords (1995) Mean: 70.00 36. Pearl Jam - Ten (1991) Mean: 72.00 35. Beck - Odelay (1996) Mean: 54.13 34. Nas - Illmatic (1994) Mean: 73.17 33. Fugees - The Score (1995) Mean: 62.71 32. Wu Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) (1993) Mean: 63.57
Lolla is for the kids Olds no longer welcome Wu-tang is for the children 31. R.E.M. - New Adventures in Hi-Fi (1996) Mean: 64.57
This is a big record by REM standards - over an hour long, and it holds up remarkably well even with exploring so many different eras of the band. Another fun fact: the entire album was recorded while the band was touring Monster.

30. Elliott Smith - Either / Or (1997) Mean: 75.50
You wouldn't have DCFC if it weren't for Built to Spill and Elliott Smith. 29. Notorious BIG - Ready to Die (1994) Mean: 59.00 28. Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas (1990) Mean: 68.43 27. Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet (1990) Mean: 60.50 26. Massive Attack - Mezzanine (1998) Mean: 83.67
I mean, Mezzanine was pretty amazing when it came out in 98, and it hasn't aged badly. 25. Lucinda Williams - Car Wheels On A Gravel Road (1998) Mean: 83.83
has anyone said the pitchfork list is bad yet? They tryna tell me a massive attack album is better than Silver Jews and Lucinda Williams LMAO 24. Built to Spill - Keep It Like A Secret (1999) Mean: 72.86
There’s actually 3 built to spills, like blue man group and the trans siberien orchestra 23. Liz Phair - Exile in Guyville (1993) Mean: 74.29 22. Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (1994) Mean: 91.17 21. Spiritualized - Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space (1997) Mean: 80.14
One of my favorite 2008 memories: Trying to watch Bon Iver on the blue stage, and only hearing Spiritualized's kick drum the entire time

Taking your personal time and energy to putting together a fun project that we constantly trolled, pushed the rules on, and were general pains in the ass about? How about you give us a better timeline on the deliverables next time, dickhead.

20. Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West (1997)Mean: 83.14
Do we really need a Modest Mouse thread on the new board ? ? 19. Green Day - Dookie (1994) Mean: 58.80
Green Day are rehearsing a Dookie 25th anniversary tour. Green Day performing Dookie in full or bust. they are not booking a dookie 25th anniversary tour. I'm half fucking around and I wouldn't care all that much but the only way they save face is if its Green Day playing Dookie. i could probably play dookie in my bedroom right now. 18. Outkast - Aquemini (1998) Mean: 59.70
Bob Dylan-->Ween-->Outkast is very specific playlist making 16. (tie) Oasis - What's the Story Morning Glory (1995) Mean: 67.22
Heh. My first was under 15 minutes, beginning to end, and everyone raved about the length specifically. Sounds like a Liam Gallagher concert! 16. (tie) Portishead - Dummy (1994)
Mean: 67.22 15. Weezer - Pinkerton (1996) Mean: 76.13 14. Fiona Apple - When The Pawn... (1999) Mean: 87.38 13. Wilco - Summerteeth (1999) Mean: 70.20 12. Nirvana - Nevermind (1991) Mean: 70.27
The first time I heard "Smells Like Teen Spirit" I was completely blown away. It was the clear signal that the 80's were finally over. (And I liked the 80's). i get that nirvana were different and everything but what bands can we look at and say wow if it wasn't for nirvana they wouldn't be successful? because i think of like 50 bands, that are still around and relevant today, for the strokes Bands that Nirvana influenced today mostly suck. 11. Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral (1994) Mean: 77.80
confession: I did not know Downward Spiral was recorded in the Tate house. wtf.

Wow thanks everyone especially chvrchbarrel for all the work in researching and putting this together. It's been fun.
As my parting thoughts I leave you all with this: if OK Computer isn't #1, you're all trying too hard. If it is #1 you're all very basic.
Ok let's see how this thing ends;
