Man that air yesterday was weird. I wasn't even outside much, but by the end of the day I felt like the end of one of those days at a fest where dust is swirling around all day. My hair was dry as hell and my eyes were super irritated

The updated forecast for tonight makes it look like more of a run-of-the-mill rain event and less like a thunderstorm, so I suspect the show will go on. monasterymonochrome

Also not sure if anyone will be into this, but the New York Philharmonic’s annual performance in Prospect Park is on Friday at 8pm:
Program To Include • Copland, Fanfare for the Common Man • Beethoven, Symphony No. 5 • NY Phil Very Young Composers, Works by Very Young Composers • Rossini, William Tell Overture • J. Strauss II, Die Fledermaus Overture • J. Strauss II, On the Beautiful Blue Danube
Artists Jaap van Zweden, Conductor
Fireworks following the conclusion of the performance
I’ve attended several of these over the years - it’s always enjoyable overall. I’ve never arrived early enough to secure a seat up front, so I’ve always had to put up with tons of chatting to the point where the quiet parts are all but inaudible. But otherwise it’s a good time to bring some sandwiches and libations and chill out on camp chairs.

Crazy hail storm last night - we got hit really hard with golf ball sized hail for about 20 minutes. Amazed my car wasn't damaged.
Apparently 7 were hospitalized at Red Rocks after a delayed announcement by the venue to seek shelter.

i got a new roof today from the april hailstorm we had. literally 5 minutes after they nailed the last shingle, a storm came through with 50mph winds and hard rain. good timing! and the new roof held up fine.

It’s so uncomfortable in my classroom. The kids are all miserable. My room is even one of the rooms with really strong a/c, too. One student pointed out that last year this room was always her coldest classroom. Today? Some of the kids in here can’t even tell that the a/c is on.

Today was the first time I've ever worn shorts to work since it was so brutal in my classroom. Everyone is sweating like monsters.

My office had all the shades drawn completely all day. The AC held up very well, it was quite comfortable.
Unfortunately my AC at home is not holding up as well. Downstairs is 75 which is fine, but upstairs is struggling to get below 78, which is not comfortable for sleeping (our bedroom is upstairs). Hopefully this is the last extreme heat of the season.

I live on the 4th floor and have somehow kept my place at 80 all day. Probably could’ve gotten colder if I put the AC on full blast but just kept it low

Hopefully this is the last extreme heat of the season. we have a similar issue. our house is old and the venting is wildly inefficient to the second floor. yesterday afternoon it was showing 82 in the bedroom but finally got down to 77 overnight. if it'd been warmer, i think we would've just slept in the basement guest room.

Currently 85 in my upstairs office/guest room with the A/C on. At least it's not humid?
I've been wondering about a roof vent even before this heat wave. Is that a thing or are they more for attics?

It is very rainy/floody here. Hoping monasterymonochrome *didn’t* make it to the office this morning because it would be potentially quite treacherous getting back home today. Kinda wonder how much snow this would’ve been…

Were you both at the Truckers show last night? My uncle said he bounced during Old 97s because of the weather Yeah I was there. To the venue’s credit, they were handing out emergency ponchos at the entrance. It didn’t really rain during American Aquarium or DBT, but it was something between light and medium rain for a good portion of the Old 97’s set. Such a good show, though, so I stayed to the bitter end. Totally worth it. Great crowd. Patterson came out and sat in on a very fun cover of “Driver 8”.
