I really do believe it isn't on there solely because it's not on streaming services and Pitchfork staffers my age have never listened to it Fun fact! mbv was the first album I reviewed for my high school's newspaper. I had heard Loveless before but didn't know the lore behind its creation and subsequent delays on its follow-up. I was just like - "Oh, this record's getting a lot of good attention - hey Mr. J, can I review it?" - as if it were a normal release. Edit: I was also so hype to review it that I bought that mf'er on iTunes. RIP to a real one. Somewhere out there, Greg Nasty just slammed his head in a door out of disgust

Also the highest rated album I've never listened to is DJ Rashad's "Double Cup" which has been sitting in my saved spotify albums for a good 2 months now it's terrific. I am finally now listening to it and do declare it to be good!

re-listened to blonde today for the first time in a long time, honestly having avoided it because i was aware of how powerful an effect it has on me and it still just absolutely destroys me
one day, maybe when we get closer to listmaking time, i'll write my essay about how it is the most important piece of art that has ever entered my life

It defined a whole year for me. The last year that I'd be around most of my friends that I had spend almost every day with for years. I was semi-surprised to see it at the top of the P4k list, but I knew it would always be at the top of mine. Would love to hear that essay goodson

Blonde hit me like a ton of bricks when I first listened and still does continually. Best album of the decade for sure.

Paste list is ass. So many indie buzz bands no one gives a shit about anymore in very high rankings. And imagine thinking Boys & Girls should be on one of these things when said band has also made a non-shit album!!!
The only way it improves upon the pitchfork list is by acknowledging the should be self-evident truth that Southeastern rules.
and that Nick Cave's output this decade has been Good

Reminder that the best decade-end list came out yesterday, via - as always - Aquarium Drunkard! It's unranked and quality from top to bottom. Some favorites that got mentioned here and will almost assuredly be left off of every other major list include: - The Weather Station
- William Tyler
- Steve Gunn
- 75 Dollar Bill
- Jennifer Castle
- Ought
- Psychic Temple
- Jake Xerxes Fussell
- Circuit des Yeux
- Marisa Anderson
- Mary Lattimore
- Ryley Walker
- Joan Shelley
- Dirty Beaches
Plus I've noted a ton of awesome sounding stuff to check out for the first time, including: - Les Filles de Illighadad - Eghass Malan
- Michael Hurley - Blue Hills
- Endless Boogie - Long Island
- Jeff Parker - The New Breed
- Chris Cohen - Overgrown Path
- Blake Mills - Heigh Ho
- Wooden Wand - Clipper Ship
- Robert Stillman - Rainbow
- Myriam Gendron - Not So Deep As A Well
- Gilberto Gil - Gilberto's Samba

that chris cohen album is an under the radar gem, for sure. none of his future albums matched it.
there's a big board endless boogie contingent. they play around nyc a bit, definitely need to be seen live.

I’ve always thought Red was the worst Taylor Swift album but maybe I should give it another listen based on all these top list placements

I know their output has been seen as less favorable since, but the low placements of Halcyon Digest is maddening.

Charly Bliss made the Stereogum list and honestly that's the biggest positive I'm taking away from this AOTD experience
