Speaking to your point about 2019 albums being tough to judge against older ones, that album was #18 on my best of 2013 list and #19 on my decade list. It really grew on me through 2014/15 and moved up even more while making this list |

Well with the exception of our no 1, our overall list looks to be unlike any others. Very few dominant ones outside of Blonde and Yeezus.

I pretty much had the same trajectory with Love's Crushing Diamond - it was like #13 or something back in 2013 (the first year I ever listened to enough new music to warrant a list) but by 2016 or so it had rocketed up my faves |

Let me just say that I went back and forth on my decision to include Swans on my list. We can talk more about it if you want, but it came down to the power of the music in the end.

Realizing that my early 2010s listening habits were absolutely bonkers. Spotify allowed plugins shortly after it left beta, and I remember being amazed with all the cool features that they had available. There was one where it would list pitchfork scores next to albums and you could click a button that would immediately give you a playlist of it. I remember clicking so many of those and listening to a bunch of albums that I would be blown away by, and then immediately delete the playlist, never to be found again. It took me a while to find Sweet Heart Sweet Light again if I recall. Anyways I'm not certain the system of listening to a ton of albums until they all sound exactly the same is any less bonkers but I guess I do that now too.

I get that Kanye's work has taken a hit for reasons, but it is pretty surprising to see Arcade Fire getting trounced by the likes of Passion Pit.
I think Arcade Fire will come out better in their critical reappraisal during their re-renaissance 10 years from now.
