Cute dog but also how cool was Nevermore Park? Really cool! I just wish it were a little bigger given how much tickets cost. Not sad I gave them my money, though.

Crosspost from NFL draft coverage. This was an actual thing that was on screen.

any of your dogs terrified of storms? what do you do for them? i know it's normal, i just feel bad for the little guy shivering in fear all day.
i've tried a thundershirt with past dogs and it hasn't worked; plus this guy is afraid of thunder independent of lightning, so not sure what to do.

Only thing that occasionally works for Wilco is if we put on some soothing music. I don't think we ever got him an actual thundershirt, but I doubt it would do any good for him either

Our guy is very scared of fireworks, only a really loud peal of thunder gets to him, but we read that focusing on tricks/training can help distract them from fixating, and it works alright for him.

Some exciting news, we adopted a dog from a rescue a couple weeks ago. We found out the morning we were going to pick him up that he tested positive for heartworm. He is undergoing treatment at his foster home because we won't be able to keep his activity/excitement levels down due to our living situation. If everything goes well we will be picking him up in a month. He is a mut, but we believe he has some Aussie/Golden Retriever in him. He is 11 months old.

poor doggie, hope the goodboy recovers quickly. Thanks! He was brought in with a bunch of other dogs from Alabama and most of them had it apparently.

Excitement for you in about a month!
I can never keep my 990s so nice looking. I wear them way too much.

We had to make a very difficult decision on Gus, our black retriever. For the last year or so our first two dogs have struggled with accepting him. The two of them are just so stuck in their ways. This caused too many fights and too much discipline on a puppy who just wanted to be a puppy.
So we searched for a new home and surprisingly the first people to show interest have adopted him after having him live with them for a week. After a weekend we visited and saw a huge turnaround. Its a baby free environment with only one other dog and the two of them bonded right away in a way that he never could with our two other dogs.
Its very bittersweet bc he's such a great dog. Seeing him with his new family is hard but the contrast is too great. He's so much happier. I've never gotten rid of a dog, and felt like a failure for giving up. The struggle was too much with him and a baby. But it was obvious that everyone in this house was unhappy about the way things were going, especially him. He's very much loved and safe in his new home and that's all we really wanted for him.

out of the blue last week the basenji rescue organization we got our current dog from called us and asked if we'd be willing to foster an 11-year old basenji whose owner had passed away.
we had zero plans to get another dog, especially a senior dog, but here we are doing it and we'll be getting him in a week or so :–)
if he gets along with our dog, then we'll take him in for good. i didn't expect that to happen, but 2020 right?

That's awesome! I had to put my 15 and 16 yr old beagles down back to back a few years ago. Just got Udo now. When he gets a little older, I'll adopt another younger dog in the 2-4 range. Gonna need another transition beagle at some point.
