I don't think the battery is easily removable? It has an "internal battery reset button" that I tried and it didn't do anything. Also the battery is drained now so my options might be limited.

Any good or bad experiences buying refurbished items? There's a tv that I've been keeping an eye on, and I found a refurbished version that would significantly cut the cost.

Why do HBO Go and Criterion Channel work better on Chromecast and the like than in-browser streaming? Meanwhile I have audio issues using Amazon Prime through the Chromecast but flawless streaming in the browser

My wife tends to go to bed significantly before I do, and I would sometimes like to watch a movie/play a game or whatever through my headphones instead of staring at my laptop screen in the dark. Has anyone had good/negative experiences with bluetooth transmitters? Any brands I should be avoiding etc?

Let the record show that after 20+ years of cell phone usage, I have finally cracked my phone screen.

Let the record show that after 20+ years of cell phone usage, I have finally cracked my phone screen. uh oh. Quite the streak. I have never cracked a screen either, but did crack the screen protector. Now that I have said that, I am probably doomed.

I have also managed to crack my laptop screen somehow in the last week or so, and I guess I'm in the market for a new one. Do y'all have any recommendations? Would mostly be used for working at home and maybe some gaming if possible?

I bought a copy of Arkham Asylum years ago that my laptop couldn't handle as it was. I'd like to finally be able to play that.

I’m not really sure what the going rate is these days but I’d probably spend up to $7-800 for something that’s reliable and will hold up? Obvz if there are solid options for less than that I’d be up for a cheaper one.

Is the 13" MacBook Pro worth the upgrade or should I wait for the rumored 14.1" coming out later this year/2021?

People who have a Nest thermostat and are also relatively picky about temperature, do you like it? Do you save a reasonable amount of money each month? It has a bit too high of a price tag to rationalize buying on a whim

It has a bit too high of a price tag to rationalize buying on a whim We got one for Christmas, I think it has definitely lowered our bill. I keep it on the efficient setting, and usually that’s perfect for us, but I’ve been bumping the heat up to 70 during the day most of the time we’ve been home because of the rona. We’ll see how well it works during the summer though. Controlling it by the app and seeing all the data is a nice bonus though.

It has a bit too high of a price tag to rationalize buying on a whim We got ours in 2016 and it has definitely saved us some money on gas and electric. So yes, if you can get past your thermostat and home/away data being out there, it's worth it. Look for local incentives/rebates if you decide to buy, I think ours was like $50 after everything.

You guys got any ideas on how to pair a chromebook to a Samsung smart tv? I think you can cast directly to a samsung tv but only if what you're casting is a supported app on the tv. If not, you'd need a standalone chromecast.

Hmm. Thanks guys. I used to be able to cast anything to my TV and it just isn't working anymore.

Yeah, I probably should just get it for all the time I spend fiddling with this stuff.

There are issues with Apple devices and some Samsung devices. If you are trying to watch something you can open in Chrome, though, you shouldn’t be able to cast directly from the browser. Not as much luck with apps.

Yeah, I probably should just get it for all the time I spend fiddling with this stuff. Either that or get a Roku (unless you have immediate need for HBO Max)
