the current social climate makes not drinking for a month a piece of cake for me. i haven't been invited to a bar in almost a year lol
in just overall trying to give my body a break, i think i would do myself a favor by at least vastly reducing the amount i smoke for at least a month

I'm out. I've successfully done this the last 3 years but January 2021 has been particularly rough so I said the hell with it. I'll try again next year under (hopefully) less stressful circumstances.

The only two times I drank in December were the two power hours so I'm doing ok on this but I'm excited to have exactly 4 beers during the first half of the super bowl and fall asleep in the middle of the Weeknd halftime show.

Correct way to do it is allowing liquor and wine. I’m better behaved when beer isn’t part of the equation. Almost caved today though
Related: Also decided this was a good opportunity to build up my beer fridge but now it’s all taunting me.

I really didn't realize until doing this how much of a habit having a drink after work had become.

Correct way to do it is allowing liquor and wine. If we're counting this, then I'm doing extremely well with the dry January

I’m still dry so far. Not easy, but a few edibles over the past 2 weeks have helped. If anything bad happens Wednesday, all bets are off.

I really didn't realize until doing this how much of a habit having a drink after work had become. Same. This is easily the longest I've gone without drinking in like 15 years and I think I'm done forever with weekday drinking at home.

Kicked weekday drinking to the curb shortly before the pandemic started and it was a great decision. Have not done dry January before but maybe I’ll give it a shot next year

After my first dry January I was sure I was done with weekday drinking at home. My feelings changed after the weather got nicer.

Last night was the closest I came to breaking. Phish brought back their weekly streams of old shows. Felt like there was a light at the end of the tunnel for the first time with regards to vaccines/remote learning.
Wanted to pound 8 beers but just took a gummy instead.

Had a big craving last night, drank a bunch of tea, which worked alright. It's really just the desire to drink something other than water and/or cocoa that's getting to me. I started late, and had one drink on the 20th, so part of me wants to push the end day off to actually hit a whole-ish month.

As long as you are not an intense stickler on alcohol free, Kombucha's have been a real game changer for me for sweet bubbly things with low sugar and .5% abv lol

Had a big craving last night, drank a bunch of tea, which worked alright. It's really just the desire to drink something other than water and/or cocoa that's getting to me. I started late, and had one drink on the 20th, so part of me wants to push the end day off to actually hit a whole-ish month. So I didn't do Dry January, but I feel ya on this one. I try hard (not hard enough tho) to not drink Sun-Thur so I bought some non alcoholic craft beers as those have been making a comeback due to their (obviously) negligent ABV and tasting better than O'Douls. I found a few that I've actually enjoyed, so maybe this'll help. Most of these are under 150 calories I believe and most should be at any decent liquor store or grocery store that sells craft beer. You can also order online via the brewery but also Amazon has some. Most have .5% abv fwiw except the first one which is advertised as 0.0% Hairless Dog Brewing: Coffee Stout - Its not a heavy beer, but does get that roasty coffee flavor right up front to hide the lack of alcohol. It tastes a little bit like a cola, but with (I think) a quarter of the sugar. By far the best stout I tried. Athletic Brewing: All Out Stout - lighter than the above, but still serviceable. No coffee but still roasty/malty, and doesn't have that cola flavor. Athletic Brewing: Free Way IPA - I'm not an IPA drinker unless it has a higher abv (like Dogfish Head's 120 min), but this one was highly sessionable. Gruvi: Sour Weisse - Not really sour, tastes like a very light acidic lemonade. Bravus: Raspberry Gose - My favorite of the bunch. It's not very sour, goses are more salty, but this one was just an easy drinker with a hint of raspberry. Bravus: Amber Ale - this was the most "regular" beer tasting one that I tried. There's several others out there to try, and I'll continue checking them out but what I've found so far hasn't been bad and maybe it'll help curb that midweek craving for you.

Was rough, but I made it through. And, managed to lose 4 lbs even with all the snacking that I used to substitute for a drink in my hand.
Going to try to limit drinking to weekends through February. Will see how that goes....

I honestly think I'm going to stick it out until Friday, do a full and proper 31 day month. I checked a scale last night, and it turns out, uh, not drinking might be a healthy act.

Who's in this year? Who else bought too much beer for NYE and will be staring at it for 30 days?

Going for two months and cutting all alcohol this year. Enjoying a hop tea at the moment.
I made a bet with my wife that if I can do this I’m getting myself a PS5 (if I can find one)
