Sounds like Betts is going to get traded sometime this week, with the Dodgers and Padres as the current front-runners for his services.

Price and Betts to the Dodgers The Dodgers love taking advantage of the Red Sox when they have to unload payroll.

Sounds like it's at least a 3 team trade, but Joc Pederson is going to the Angels for a 4th way or separate trade.
I give this offseason a 9.2 so far

Is Verdugo even that much of a “centerpiece”. I understand that Mookie is a free agent next year and they were so apart on money still but they still have to take on half of Price’s contract with this trade.
Idk just wild to see someone that good traded for something so meh, even with all the money involved

Verdugo for 5 years and Graterol for 6 is a lot of control and potential, but that's the type of trade you'd expect to see the Rays make. John Henry makes a fortune off the Red Sox every year and just traded one of the best players in baseball to get under the luxury tax. It's pretty weak.

Wild to see the Red Sox basically punting 2020, but I guess they've done this before and been okay.

There is literally no legitimate baseball reason for this trade. It is all about saving the $$ for the ownership. I haven’t been this disgusted since the NHL cancelled their season and it took me over a decade before I watched even a second of another hockey game. It may even be longer before I come back to baseball. If ever.

I give this offseason a 9.2 so far It is a 3 team trade, but the third team is the Twins, with Kenta Maeda going back to them - Pederson to the Angels is a completely separate trade. Agreed it's been a great offseason, best in years by far.

If you look at the dollars and cents of it, you can make an argument that it's a fair return for one year of Betts at arb prices (although I dunno the finances on what they're kicking in on Price). But yes for the marquee player on one of the marquee teams it is super gross. Knowing the Red Sox front office they'll bury him in a whisper campaign that will be all over the tabloids this week, designed fully to make Henry look like the good guy.

Red Sox are apparently paying half of Price's salary.
I figured they'd at least get Lux or May in return. Verdugo can be good but he's been injured a lot and hasn't put together a full season yet.
Haven't seen any takes blaming JD Martinez for not opting out but I'm sure they're out there.

What an atrocious trade for Boston.
Also if all it took was Alex Verdugo (who I like), I am very disappointed that the White Sox didn't beat the offer

Verdugo is better than any of the Sox outfield prospects not named Luis Robert.

Verdugo hasn't participated in any baseball activities this offseason due to a bad back, but his goal is to be ready for opening day. What could go wrong?

idk how the dodgers constantly get away with trading almost zero prospects and get huge talent in return

idk how the dodgers constantly get away with trading almost zero prospects and get huge talent in return Friedman gave away Yordan Alvarez for next to nothing but in his defense that was before Yordan learned the finer art of trash can banging

Twins just backed out of the Betts trade, I wonder if the whole thing falls apart now?

Projected at late first round talent, so this is a great pickup.

Dodgers also getting the pitcher from the Twins so this somehow ended up better for them.

Dodgers somehow got a comp pick in the draft too. Feels like the Red Sox got worked here

Hometown kid returns - albeit way past his expiration date. Kipnis to Cubs on minors deal. #northbrook
