Bell Witch - Mirror Reaper is streamingforewarning; it's 84 minutes long Desmond and Shreibman began brainstorming a two-part song built around a single repeating riff, its movements titled "As Above" and "So Below." At the halfway point, the song would double back on itself, playing darker reflections of earlier sections in reverse order (hence the title Mirror Reaper). Bell Witch played sections of the composition during several tours, fine-tuning it as they went; they found themselves rearranging riffs to make room for new ideas, like Shreibman's adding a foot organ to the band's instrumentation. All the while, Desmond worked on composing his newest ghost story.
"The song is about something that is in the gray area between death and life," Desmond explains. "Its body is dying, but it is still conscious. It's saying 'make this purgatory stop. Have mercy.'" The track reflects on mortality and represents the transition from life to death. In a stroke of tragic irony, Desmond and Schreibman would be faced with a personal lesson in loss before the song itself was finished.

I wish I liked this more. It just doesn't have much going for it right now. Definitely has a more metal feel to it than their previous work, but I was always a fan of Maynard's vague approach to lyrics. Feels more in line with material from eMotive.

That sounds pretty great. Almost didn't recognize his voice, but I really dig the vocals.

Feels more in line with material from eMotive. listened a few times this morning and i dig it more than "Feathers." the drums on it are stellar and i think MJK's vocals are great after him doing goofy Puscifer stuff for however long now. the rest of the instrumentation and lyrics definitely don't feel as inspired as the first 2 albums but i still probably like this more than most of the stuff from Emotive.

Ever since Emotive, and the birth of Puscifer material, I feel that Maynard's lyrics have mostly gone the direction of sophomoric. He's had few gains in that department, even on 10K days, where instead of maintaining that dignity he had on Lateralus and Aenima, he instead shouts "god damn, shit the bed" which I find dumb. I'm just tired of his poor lyrics after all these years. He's changed obviously, but I think it's for the worse. In defense of emotive tho! Passive was excellent (tho give credit where credit's due, ahem, Trent) but I also enjoyed a few of those tracks like Annihilation, Fiddle and Drum, and Imagine wasn't the worst thing they've ever done. As far as the recent original compositions, I'm sticking with By and Down. I remember very little of Feathers from the concert last April so I can't comment on that.

Really really dig this song. I'm a sucker for everything these guys do. The rhythmic drumming reminds me a lot of In Rainbows-era Radiohead.

new BiSH album dropping on November 29th, likely album of the year because I believe in them, Aina is my #1 girl, ganbatte, etc etc www.bish.tokyo/news/detail.php?id=1052733Their EP "GiANT KiLLERS" that they released earlier this year was pure fire. Both the song GiANT KiLLERS and their stand-alone single Promise the Star are two of my top songs of the year.

Okay guys I think T Swift might be purposefully making an awful album. I actually liked that song the most of the 3 new ones so far. Nowhere near her best stuff, but at least that one is tolerable.

So apparently vinyl of Turn out the Lights, the album, not the single, were being sold last night in Chicago. This should leak today I'm assuming.
