Gonna have to hard disagree on that? I really like this single, on first blush. The layers of instrumentation are dense and take interesting routes. The off-kilter piano interjection in the first verse, the shoegaze inflected chords wrapping over the choruses, the slick rhythm guitar cropping up halfway thru the last verse. The whatever the fuck fanfare happens during each break. I found a lot to sick my teeth into here. A lot more than most of the big indie darlings have put out lately.
But - I also didn’t particularly like Be the Cowboy and haven’t really *loved* a Mitski project since Bury Me At Makeout Creek - so take my opinion with that in mind.
