this is a tough one for me, i've heard of boomers in general but i try not to associate with their music
it seems like steely dan is much better and furthermore, it doesn't seem like any of the people in steely dan are assholes.
i guess if you'd never used google and these were the only two bands you'd ever heard of, they're both listenable. final vote goes to steely dan since kanye sampled him.

I heard Desperado on the radio yesterday for the first time in a long time and I am hard pressed to think of a song worse than that, so my vote goes to Steely Dan.

I once had 2 tix for crimson at my college in my hands, but I couldn't find anyone to go with back then. so I sold them to someone who ended up going by himself. also missed out on buying tix to see crimson a bunch of times since. was planning to do ravinia lawn for them this yr, but will have to wait until 2021 to put them in the trapper keeper.
did see fripp run the league of crafty guitarists at park west in 1990. was not good at all; left way early.
so I'd vote for steely dan over crimson if that was the poll.

also, altho I had countdown on LP, I think the best steely dan is can't buy a thrill, with all the band members who didn't last past that album.

As the guy who established that the Eagles were universally "fine, I guess", I gotta go with the Dan.
Both bands need to stop performing under their banners though
