Lolla booking Journey instead of Foghat means they must've really erased us after all these years :/ Maybe they're just trying to get facts back on board.

Stereogum picked it up so this is probably happening in some sort of capacity. I too wish it was Scoots' dog actually playing.

"But given that Lolla sort of has eight “headliners” these days, Journey playing second to last one night isn’t exactly crazy." i havent been to lolla in a couple years, but that's still not how it works, right? i'll stick with them also not knowing what they're talking about

www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/neal-schon-interview-journey-arnel-pineda-steve-perry-universe-1109823/amp/"We’re planning on a full album release in 2021 before we get back to touring. We did book our first show of 2021. We’re going to be headlining Lollapalooza in Chicago on July 31st unless they move it. My fingers are crossed that everyone is going to get the vaccine and feel good and get back to it. I’m just so looking forward to playing with the new band. Post Malone is headlining at the same time as us about a mile away on another stage. It’ll be interesting." Journey's Neal Schon confirms again (with the correct dates) that they are playing Lollapalooza Chicago on July 31st on Bud Light stage against Post Malone.

Is it weird that I'd lean Post on that matchup if I didn't think the crowd was going to be a shitshow.

Journey headlining in the year 2021 would be utterly bizarre. Maybe at the height of the "Don't Stop Believing" revival this could have made some sense, but it seems like a Taste of Chicago booking these days.
I also can't see how they would do anything to cut down on a Post Malone crowd. Maybe we're going 18+ unless accompanied by a adult, and they want to give parents some reasons to attend?
Again, can't make sense of this one unless they are wrong about the billing and are actually subbing for another rock act (like the Foos).

If they put a huge artist at Perry’s they’ll cut down significantly. Regardless catch me at Post Malone

I had a good time watching Post Malone in 2018 while pre-gaming for The National with a bottle of red wine. Then so much of his crowd left after his set that I got on the rail w/o any trouble lmao.
Would prolly catch Journey tho, ngl. Never seen them and though I'm not much of a fan, their greatest hits were a constant presence in my parents car growing up, so there's a lil bit of nostalgia there. Plus my college roommate would always dial up Open Arms on TouchTunes while we played pool haha

But I’d be happy to check and be wrong I'm pretty sure that tour hit Wrigley and it was sold out, some of that can be attributed to the venue itself though. Edit: I see this was already pointed out. Still, Journey regularly does multiple nights at Ravinia or plays Tinley when they come through on their own. They're a headliner, even as the cover band version of themselves.
