I do remember it was a big deal that Widespread Panic was coming back to play the town where I went to college because there were so many arrests and OD's the last time they played that they had been soft banned for over a decade.

Going to a Journey set to get into fights with boomers sounds like the best option actually. I got into a fight with some boomers before The Cure at Lolla 2013 in which I told a lady "You're obviously a huge fan, you look exactly like Robert Smith" which is the sickest burn I've ever laid on anyone in my life.

I have a theory about Journey headlining. Maybe Lolla is only booking American acts?

Lots of Steve Perry or nothing talk but can he still sing like Steve Perry from 30 years ago?

while I've never given a strong fuck about Journey either way, i will say their new singer has PIPES and does the job better than anyone Steve Perry's age can so if you're gonna go that route, you'll probably still have a good time

That is a very valid point. Journey with Steve Perry would be cool but for a festival set that will no doubt have lots of casual fans & people seeing Journey for the 1st time so you have to have Arnel in there.

He’s too busy with the “open the schools and day camps” rallies. He’ll be back when the pandemic is over

1975 cancelled their entire 2021 tour including festival dates so they won’t be at Lolla.

FWIW here are a bunch of artists that Shazam predicts will be the festival darlings of 2021-22: music.apple.com/us/playlist/pl.1c18574675ce4ae5b11c2e19391f54d0Apparently the magical algorithm can identify who's "on the bubble" with, idk, data science or whatever. It made some waves a while back for predicting like four years ago that Billie Eilish was going to be A Thing.

Am I missing any rumored tour dates in the first post? I am not going to post the entire Rolling Rock lineup but I imagine there will be some overlap there.

Just saw new tour dates for Styx and Collective Soul with a big gap around Lolla time. I know. I know. But with Journey "headlining," why the hell not?

Neither band is in the Trapper Keeper, but I'm more interested in seeing Collective Soul. I'll probably get a ticket to the 6-25 show in Bonner Springs, KS.

I would say I can't imagine either band winding up on the Lolla line-up and that gap is so big I can't read much into it, but we are looking at a potential Journey headlining slot so.... who the hell knows.
Of the two, I'd be much more interested in Collective Soul, and they fit the occasional 90's alt-rock booking. Probably would draw a similar crowd to Live.

Styx is technically a hometown act. And they make a lot more sense to open for Journey than the Bizkit does
Edit: I will also add here I feel like Collective Soul should've played Lolla already
