I'd be surprised if they didn't trade him.

That seems to be the expectation. That trade looks terrible in hindsight.
Edit: Terrible for the White Sox. Great trade for the Cubs.

Very surprised Rodon didn't get a QO. I wonder if he was actually hurt and not just fatigued?

Very surprised Rodon didn't get a QO. I wonder if he was actually hurt and not just fatigued? I just assumed the Sox were going to bring him back at a lower AAV than the QO. Maybe something like 3/40 with a team option on the third year.

The way he finished the season there’s no way in hell he’s getting a long term deal. It’s a shame. Dude pitched lights out until his shoulder issues popped up again. I think the 3-40 deal tracks.

But then why not issue the QO and negotiate a multi-year deal with the lower AAV? That's what they did with Abreu.

ESPN's free agent preview predicted that Rodon gets 3/51. I'd be happy if we got him at that price.

Nightengale says Sox interested in Verlander, so the Sox aren't getting Verlander.
Hoping for Starling Marte. I would be so bummed if we went into 2022 with Vaughn/Sheets/Engel as the options for RF/DH.

Contorto seems more likely, assuming he turns down his QO.

Verlander just resigned with Houston. This is why I unfollowed Nightengale - dude is a hack.

Nightengale sucks but all he said was that the Sox were interested. In the same exact tweet he said they were up against steep competition including the Astros. There was nothing inaccurate there. More just Sox twitter overreacting.

You said it yourself he sucks. Nightingale and Heyman are consistently the Schefter’s of MLB Twitter and jump on any source they can so they can have a “scoop.”
But yes White Sox Twitter is awful too.

White Sox are signing Kendall Graveman, 3/24.

White Sox are signing Kendall Graveman, 3/24. Don't love the third year but this is fine assuming we can also get an impact bat at 2B or RF.

Wow, Semien got 7/175 from the Rangers. Was optimistic the Sox could bring him back but didn't think he'd get that much. Good for him.

Some fun math on Scherzer's 3 year 130 million dollar deal with the Mets:
Assuming 200 innings pitched a season (which is less common these days) at 20 pitches per inning - The Mets are paying Max upwards of 10k per pitch.

I NEED to go to a Mets game next year, especially if I can catch Max before he retires. Haven't seen him in person since his Detroit days.
Enjoy the hot stove while it lasts, boys! After the 1st everything's gonna come to a screeching halt.

Now Seager to the Rangers. Not sure why they got rid of Gallo, but hey, whatever.
Also wtf are the Dodgers doing.

With these prices, I am very pessimistic the Sox sign anybody.
Hoping we can trade for Matt Olson or something.

Hey it could be worse, your team could actively be ignoring your best player in terms of contract extension talks.
