i miss when youtube would put the whole streaming schedule up so you could set reminders for each individual act and have popups so it would tell you when it was time to switch to one of the other channels

They're really not that far off from being there in general tbh. Didn't EN tour sell like dog shit?

I couldn't tell from the webcast, but it looked pretty packed under the tent My brother and I got there 5 minutes before and it was pretty packed to the gills. By the end we were right next to the soundboard in there. Felt pretty typical of other large fest sets- jammed at the beginning, but people kept breaking away and by the end lots of room to dance and whatnot

Also I don't know how it looked on the teevee but Harry didn't have a giant crowd. You could pretty easily walk into it and fit comfortably near the 2nd batch of speakers. I'm sure it was more packed up front but I've definitely seen bigger headlining sets here

Highlight of the day so far was the security lady telling the guy in front of me to go to the back of the line and get better at hiding his shit after she found like 3 things

Absolutely not this doofus cost me half of Yard Act's set. Already booked a hotel for weekend 1 of next year. Still might wind up getting a travel package/something different. What a time!

I don't know if I'll do a giant post but I guess a couple of things: The fact that I got to do this trip with my brother is really, really special and I'm incredibly fortunate that we got to do something like this, especially now that we aren't really kids anymore. The most packed it felt all weekend, fwiw, was SHM/Weeknd. Everything else crowd wise was pretty manageable, save for some beer lines at weird times and the Yuma for Fatboy Slim (who I didn't get to see, which is partly my own fault and partially because security at that stage felt utterly unable to count properly). They may have sold 125k wristbands but there was absolutely no way 125k people were there. Top sets, in order of seeing them by day: The Hu, Spiritualized, Arcade Fire, Amyl & The Sniffers, The Avalanches, Beach Bunny, Japanese Breakfast, Turnstile, Danny Elfman, Caribou, Hot Chip, Viagra Boys, Dave. Caught 42 acts over 3 days, which is a little less than $15 per based on face value ticket price. Got to meet jazzpolice a couple times on Saturday. Never got a beer with him tho. What's up with that? Also Wretched sends his regards- I told him we were doing Ronald Reagan jokes again on here and he said that sounds good and fine. Crowd remains about the same as I remember it- 30% of people hoping someone, anyone, please lord anyone is looking at them, and 70% are normal, relatively adjusted people who like festivals. Security could give two shits (I pinged on the metal detector twice and they never bothered to wand me)- I guess they've figured anyone paying the dollars to attend this Event can keep their shit together and cash in on their investment. Not a lot of kids like Lolla- hard to imagine why! I think perdhapley is the only one going weekend 2, but here's some things to keep in mind: - The water stations around the park ran dry by about 7pm each day, earlier on Friday. It's $2 a water bottle and I would try to get a water every time I got a beer. Please do not ask me how much I spent on beer this weekend. - It's cashless. This should....not be a thing in 2023 (beers, etc.) - The merch line was absurdly fucking long pretty much always. I wanted one of the white ones but I wasn't going to stand in a line for 3 goddamn hours. The actual festival is going on! - No paper schedules, so save everything to your phone (map, schedule, etc.). Cell service was great in the beer gardens and hit or miss everywhere else.

Here's my recap FWIW. Day 1: Arooj Aftab. The Hu. Code Orange. Carly Rae Jepsen. Arcade Fire. Idles. Phoebe Bridgers. Daniel Caesar. Harry Styles Day 2: Yard Act. Beach Bunny. Japanese Breakfast. 100 Gecs. Turnstile. Black Midi. Danny Elfman. Megan Thee Stallion*. Hot Chip. Billie Eilish*. 21 Savage*. Day 3: Sampha The Great. Surf Curse. Yola. Viagra Boys. Orville Peck. Fred Again…. Dave. Doja Cat. Jamie xx. (*partial) Random Thoughts About Sets: - Arcade Fire - So wonderful to see them on one of the smaller stages. It was stripped down and almost felt like a reunion (or at least a return to form) - Danny Elfman was cool as fuck. Hearing Jack Skellington live is a trip. - Hot Chip’s set was short but really outstanding. - Idles fucking rules. - Orville Peck also rules. - Yard Act rules as well. - Didn’t expect to see Shania Twain or Justin Bieber ever in my life, but here we are *kanye shrug* - Harry Styles was the only headliner I watched all the way through. Good fun. Watched about 30 minutes of Billie, but feel like she’s not well suited to that size of production. Completely skipped SHM x The Weekend. - Sunday was interesting because I saw a lot of artists I only knew by reputation: Viagra Boys, Fred Again, Dave and Doja Cat. All were excellent. Doja Cat’s production was top notch. Dave bringing up Spike (“from London”) was a definite highlight. Random Thoughts About Good Stuff: - Flying directly into Palm Springs rules. - The Omni Resorts shuttle stop was top-notch. Cold water and shade while you waited and a taco bar upon return. Highly recommended. - Never had a line for security. - Hattie B’s!!!!!!! - Meeting Tweet was awesome and seeing wretched's face again was great. - Art installations were top notch as always. Random Thoughts About Bad Stuff: - There were a ton of late starts. - It seems like they were scrambling to set up the food market on Friday. - The line to check in for lockers on Friday was awful, we waited until late in the evening to go. - There seemed to be a lot less water stands available, as well as garbage cans. - They really need to do something about the merch booth. It’s out of control. - Food continues to increase in price. I always have a great time and look forward to returning next year. Thinking of springing for VIP just so I can get in the rose garden (I know this is fiscally irresponsible but YOLO and shit). Oh, I just received a COVID exposure notification on my phone! Happy Coachella Everyone!
