Huston is back active on the Lolla discord (not a voice chat this time, just casually interacting) and when someone asked about Kanye he said "if you stand with Trump, you're not playing Lolla. I don't care how good your music is." Well, okay then! I'm not convinced James Hetfield isn't a Trump guy. The most I've ever seen him say about it is that he keeps his political opinions private. I think that's mostly what he means. There are certainly going to be people who play and quietly supported Trump, but there's a difference between your personally held political opinions that people try to guess at and using your platform to elevate and promote the guy.
It's also an easy dunk on Goldenvoice, which I am sure is fun for him.

i just went through green day's show history and was a little surprised that they've never played metro. it looks like in 1993 they went from mcgregor's in elmhurst right to the riv.

Dookie was '94. it looks like that '93 riv show was on a tour with bad religion. then in '94 they headlined the vic and blew up. |

and was actually only thinking of a one day ticket or a two day bundle (don't care about metallica or green day, but still was thinking of thurs / sat). I'm not sure I want to tire myself out so much over 4 days (I think I try to do too much each lolla day, instead of limiting the acts I sample). I have now more or less talked myself out of going two days to this, and whether I even go one day may be a game time decision, unless I get next month's work schedule, which I'm always antsy about before it arrives, and/ or get my office sub-tenant's back rent before the weekend, so I don't have to put the ticket on a plastic card, even tho I don't necessarily need to use plastic. |
