How are they probably better without doing a trade? Ben may disappear in the playoffs but he's worth a few regular season wins for sure huh receiving players for Ben Simmons will make the Sixers better than just not having a player. i guess I responded to the wrong post for the point but I mean what makes them "probably better" than last year as of right now prior to a Ben trade? Ben Simmons is a good regular season player and I'd say they likely don't hit as many regular season wins if they are just playing without him, which is realistically looking like its going to happen. They didn't sign anyone besides Andre Drummond a simmons trade could change that for sure but in the current form I would rate them as worse than last year, even though I feel like Embiid will be unlocked further without Ben on the court |

i look at it as tiers of:
nets/bucks
and then in the crowded middle:
76ers/hawks/heat/knicks/bulls
and betting on the guys that did well last year, will hopefully have mitchrob for much more of the season, hopefully positive development from quickley and toppin, have replaced elfrid "worst player in the world" payton and reggie bullock with kemba and fournier - doesn't feel insane to me

I would be very surprised if Knicks land higher than the six seed really? they were 4 last year, the only teams that i think got demonstrably better are the heat and the bulls, and with the sixers maybe regressing it seems pretty likely. They were 4 in record but it was kind of a fluke, they were probably the 6th best team in the east last year. Adding Kemba is good but I don't think it's enough for them to overcome at least 3 of the following happening: Heat being good with Lowry, Hawks not having their slow start from last year, new Bulls meshing, Celtics stabilizing after a wonky year, Sixers not completely nosediving, and LaMelo making a big leap. |

The Hawks beat the Knicks in 5 and lost no key pieces while adding 2 good veterans to lighten the responsibility of their young all stars. Heat have what literally everyone in the NBA considers the best offseason and were the 6 seed last year. The bulls are a question mark, the other teams are not. |

the bulls criticism that everyone keeps coming back to is them scoring which to me doesn't seem too be the issue the issue is when they are gonna have to play a team like the Sixers and not having Embiid/Harris/Drummond score 400 points and get every rebound.
