Taco Bell used to give out surprisingly decent mix-CDs back in the mid-90s.

Every one of these lists has be going "OH YEAH! THAT ONE!" I've had this discussion with Wretched regarding a lot of these albums as to why I think I went to HS during one of the best eras for music ever (1991-1995).

Um, no Violator? What a bunch of failure, people.
And thank you Wretched for having the sense to mention Mezzanine.

Violator wouldn't be top 10 for me but it'd be up there.

Um, no Violator? What a bunch of failure, people. And thank you Wretched for having the sense to mention Mezzanine. Remembering that era vividly, that album got pretty buried due to all of the great EDM albums that dropped in a 2 year window. UNKLE's debut was widely ignored as well.

Violator wouldn't be top 10 for me but it'd be up there. I just can't believe that of all the different albums being listed, including such garbage as Mellon Collie, that not a single person mentioned Violator. Personal Jesus and Enjoy the Silence were pretty inescapable during their time. I don't remember that album being buried too much.

I guess I don't like Depeche Mode as much as you clearly do.

Guys, guys, we can agree here.
Smashing Pumpkins and Depeche Mode are both bad bands.

Mellon Collie is a weird choice. Siamese Dream and Gish are both terrific, though.

Even as a kid I thought that Mellon Collie shouldn't have been a double album. I rarely ever listened to that second disc.

For the record, what there is a shocking scarcity of in this thread is GY!BE and Sigur Ros.

I rarely ever listened to that second disc. *scoots, at snack time, after the lunch monitor helps him open his carton of milk*: there's a lot of filler on the new smashing pumpkins album. they should have made it a single album, right?

For the record, what there is a shocking scarcity of in this thread is GY!BE and Sigur Ros. yeah, cause when i think of the 90's, i think of besmirched icelandic singers droning in made up languages over stringed instruments. wait a minute. how did bjork not make my list

See, that's my trick. If I don't post one, no one can criticize it! Also, 85-00 was a long look into the dark dark soul of music that we're all still recovering from.
