Gave it one listen on Friday and it was basically a forgettable, watered down version of her last album.

Kinda shocked at the score for Empress Of. I was expecting somewhere in the 8.3-8.6 range given how many places are blubbering over it. I figured the same. Really makes you think

The Greta Van fleet review isn’t quite a monkey peeing in its own mouth but it’s sure something

That was basically a 1,000 word long way of saying "I am jealous that these guys get laid"

Do they even get laid though? The singer is still pining after his mom. Their entire discography just sound like "I'm horny and want to bang my mom" with terrible nature/peace/folk tale lyrics thrown in between
Great review. Not as good as Lulu or Kid A tho

Dij22 is one of the people tweeting at pitchfork "Have you guys ever given a RAP ALBUM a 1.6? "

Haven't listened to the album and it is probably bad, but writing a review making fun of how teenagers dress is colossally lame.

Also complaining about a perceived lack of authenticity is like the laziest thing a music critic could do.

Haven't listened to the album and it is probably bad, but writing a review making fun of how teenagers dress is colossally lame. Writing about a group of three white guys who wear Native American garb as their stage clothes seems totally relevant to me. It ties directly into their music and how blissfully unaware they are of the fakeness of everything they do. It’s all a manufactured sound and image. Just like they wish they were Led Zeppelin in the 1970s they also apparently wish they were Native Americans in a peaceful army. It goes to show that at the end of the day their music is nothing more than cheap nostalgia marketed towards white girls wearing headdresses at Coachella and old balding classic rock dudes longing for the glory days before laptops ruined music for them.

When I first saw the kid wearing the Indian feathers on the Coachella livestream I assumed someone was going to grab him after the show and tell him to never do that again. It's legitimately jarring every time I see him since then and he's still wearing them. It's extremely lame and tone deaf and worth calling out.

"Mid-Ox Transaction" - new animal-named acoustic-guitar driven indie band, or new Animal Collective EP?

The Parlor Mob might very well release an equally shitty album in 2019 that is more of the same (Zeppelin ripoffs and "cheap nostalgia"), but there is a 0% chance P4K gives them a 1.6 because they are older and dress in t-shirts and jeans and are therefore more "authentic".

I like that Dij's argument basically comes down to "You shouldn't make fun of a 17 year old white kid for wearing black face because it is as authentic to them as a 35 year old man wearing jeans" its v post-woke

oh man i try to avoid reading p4k reviews or giving them too much credit but that one is spot the fuck on.
i was kinda into the EP but after seeing them at coachella i was turned off by the #DOESANYONEREMEMBERLAUGHTER vibe and then laughed through the shaky knees set that was all drunk uncles in GVF shirts talking about how they hope the kids cover Stairway some day.
can't say i'm interested much in the new album but i may have to entertain it this morning just for shits n giggles n oh god why god why

What your arguing isn't even an argument of judging the art not the artist. You are arguing that the image cultivated and sold by the act is completely divorced from the music they make which is just patently untrue and impossible

I like almost all music that sounds like ‘80s bullshit, the ‘80s, or just bullshit, and for some reason The 1975 don’t make sense to me.

I love INXS but hate stupid band names and groups that already play big venues. Should I listen to this band?
