I think I asked this question a few months back here or maybe off board to some people and was pretty confident the next ten would be a woman. I did not think it would be a white one.

The dogs barking at the end of "Fetch the Bolt Cutter" drove my pup crazy. Started looking out the window, then figured it out and just glared at the speaker with his hackles up.

Said pup is still super anxious listening to Fiona - walking around the house and glaring at the speaker. The other pup is snoring contentedly about 4 feet from the speaker.

I can't fathom P4K tanking them right now. Especially if they gave worse records like Tame Impala and Grimes positive scores. I also don't see it getting a BNM. 7.4-7.8 seems comfortable.
It's more Nine Types of Light, King of Limbs, Get Behind Me Satan, Life of Pablo than An Object, Ye, Boarding House Wretch, or Everything Now.

I predict like an 8.4 and a BNM for Isbell

they are historically very harsh on him for some reason (maybe not in absolute terms but relative to the rest of the music press). Probably because he makes music for olds (Southeastern was in my top 10 of the decade FTR)

yeah i don't see either of those happening. If anything, the 1975 will get an 8.0, they haven't shown much interest in the tracks released.
I see Moses Sunney getting a 9.0 or above tho. Perfume Genius at least an 8.0, tho it deserves a BNM.

perfume genius is def getting a bnm. he's doing their new livestream show on friday when it comes out if there was any question.
lame that they didn't give one to the new ka. can't believe none of his albums have gotten it.

I predict like an 8.4 and a BNM for Isbell Dang, a 7.8. Still the highest score they've ever given him so I will claim victory

8.6 for Moses...same score as his last album

I think it's better than that. The second half may be a challenge but it just makes for a more interesting listen. It's better than his last imo.

Split on whether not reviewing Perfume Genius today is because they don't like giving two BNM's in one day, or it isn't BNM but they didn't want PG talking shit about Pitchfork in their livestream

Post by krentist on May 15, 2020 9:40:21 GMT -6
I really doubt they are concerned about something mildly spicy happening on the live stream they're hosting. Moses Sumney and Perfume Genius are both at the level where they are featured reviews for them. There's your explanation.

9.0, highest PG has gotten. The I'm Glad It's You album got a 7.4 too, so that's cool, because that album is great.

Can't decide if RTJ4 is gonna continue their BNM streak or not. Stereogum gave them AOTW and its getting glowing reviews elsewhere so....
8.4
No Age is gonna get like a 7.5.
