What's that, like 6 Chicago shows for them this year? They have been based out of Chicago for the past couple years I knew that but still, lotta shows

Thalia hasn’t announced their NYE show right? Hoping Twin Peaks might become an annual tradition.

Thalia hasn’t announced their NYE show right? Hoping Twin Peaks might become an annual tradition. That was a really fun show but holy shit was the smell of hot dogs overpowering. It was like coming from a bonfire; the smell was still in our hair the next morning.

Also I wonder if Whitney would do a Thalia NYE run.
At their Valentine's Day shows last year, they talked about wanting to make it an annual thing and just continue adding shows the bigger they get rather than go to a larger venue. But the SVE show is on 2/14 this year.

Lotus is at Park West. Not sure what that is.

Lotus is at Park West. Not sure what that is. You would probably really like Lotus tbh. Basically if Caribou committed to being a full on jam band. It's still got a bit of that upbeat goofy jam band-ness to it but also a ton of Cut Copy/Hot Chip and than some post rocky stuff as well. They are one of the few bands from the jam adjacent scene that are solid.

That show will probably sell out super quickly.

Might do one of the non-NYE shows, since I'm sure those will be on jukely

Greensky Bluegrass is at the Riv again. Four nights this year, 28-31.

That seems excessive, unsurprising and appropriate all at the same time.

Everyone should be rejoicing that the riv is now occupied by a garbage act and therefore out of play

Like I said I'm betting on Pumpkins at Metro for NYE. It's the only reason I can think of as to why that hasn't happened yet

It's the only reason I can think of as to why that hasn't happened yet I think Billy got bought by Live Nation and doesn't give a fuck about Joe to be perfectly honest with you - as much as I would truly love to believe this is somehow still in the cards.

Well, they did basically just reveal the news about the new Double Door through the Pumpkins, so maybe not... idk a chicago christmas radio show and a chicago new years eve show don't pair well together, metro aside. there have been many ample opportunities along this whole stupid reunion shtick for them to come through and actually play that room, and it hasn't happened. I doubt they're waiting for anything at this point.

Don't worry, I agree, it won't be the Pumpkims, just saying the Billy/Joe relationship isn't gone.
I'm guessing it will be one of those bland Chicago bands like the one that starts with a W that I'm forgetting the name of
Edit: Whitney! Of course I remember the name after typing all that

I have friends who travel for that too. I actually really like most of those big names - Skrillex, Bassnectar, Eric Prydz, Marshmello.... they did a good job this year.

Of course I remember the name after typing all that I guess it would be neat for the inaugural new Double Door concert to be Smashing Pumpkins?
