Metro and Smartbar will be tackling New Year’s Eve 2018 as a united front with the announcement of STUDIO 3730, an all-building New Year's Eve extravaganza featuring an all-star lineup of DJs, drag queens, and installation artists. Informed by the gamine glitz and glamour of legendary New York nightclub Studio 54, 3730 North Clark Street will be transformed into an homage to the year 1978. TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW.
Studio 3730 will be anchored by DJ sets from local house/techno gurus MICHAEL SERAFINI, GARRETT DAVID, SHAUN J. WRIGHT, and many more. Working the room will be some of Chicago’s finest drag queens, including LUCY STOOLE, JOJO BABY, NICO, and IMP QUEEN.
Smartbar residents will also be at the helm, joining forces to organize a special iteration of smartbar’s wildly successful weekly dance party Queen! With a stacked lineup including JEFF DERRINGER, JUSTIN AULIS LONG, OLIN, and many more, patrons will be treated to some of the most eclectic selectors in the city while exploring installations activated by interdisciplinary artist collective Manifest.

I heard St. Louis is looking for a new, hip music fest to put in Forest Park. the veiled prophet festival used to be a week long music festival in saint louis over the decades, even into the late 1980's, until people realized the veiled prophet was actually a ku klux klansman. so I wouldn't trust a st louis festival much. |

Last year felt like there were more fun options pretty much around the country for NYE shows before Covid ruined all that. I had tickets to all 3 MMJ nights (RIP)
this year I'm not seeing much despite that NYE is a Saturday. If I go to a show at all the leading candidate is Billy Strings in New Orleans

flaming lips used to play nye shows in okc, i think they did it 5 years in a row in the mid-2010's. those were always fun!

I thought about driving up to one of these multiple times and never did, they always looked like a blast Spoon had an Austin NYE show planned last year that ended up cancelled and if they announced that again I'd definitely consider it but it's getting late Tobe Nwigwe is doing a show here on December 30th and if I'm in town I'm gonna go to that |
