Disclosure are starting work on a new album, the full-length follow-up to 2015’s Caracal. The UK duo will focus on recording sessions instead of running a 2018 edition of their festival, Wild Life, they revealed in a statement on Facebook. “With a busy recording schedule ahead as we embark on album number 3 we’re going to give the green grass of Shoreham Airport a break throughout 2018 and come back bigger and better in 2019,” they wrote.

new track by Closer (shares band members with Vagabon, and Real Life Buildings) dropped a new track today. Albums out next week. how do people feel about this? i like it, tho it sounds a little like cloud nothings. This album leaked and has been []'d. |

FRIGS seem like they could be a really good dark post punk band. their album comes out on arts & crafts (they're from toronto) feb 23. brooklynvegan says "Their dark, soulful brand of rock is powered by Bria Salmela, a firebrand frontperson possessing a commanding voice that can go from smoky cool to full-on wail." the description and their music make me want to check them out at the bottle 4/3.
savages seems like the most obvious reference point.

I was just about to post that, I had no idea anyone outside of Chicago had heard of them. Really great live band too. Stereogum actually highlighted their "Pyrrhic Victory" single at the tail end of 2016 which is how I got exposed to them. Been following them since. SG might suck for a lot of things - opinions, AOTW choices, the fact that they share half of their staff with P4K, etc. - but they definitely highlight more new music than P4K does these days and its from all over the spectrum. So far they've introduced me to: Ganser, Slow Mass, Closer, Hater, Alpha Male, Fake Palms, Bethlehem Steel, Dream Wife, Froth, Ice Balloons, Kindling, Nocturnal Habits, Omni, Sidney Gish, Soft Fangs, Turtlenecked, Ulrika Spacek - just to name a few. P4K, Spin, COS, and others barely touched on any of these artists if at all. |

I remember reading Pirchforks review trashing it as unlistenable and they have it like a 4. Listener to it expecting some abrasive noise mess. Wasn’t that at all.
