Recording sessions for The Sword‘s sixth full-length album have begun at Flora Recording And Playback in Portland, OR. The group are working with producer Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, Modest Mouse) this time around and expect to be done with the sessions by early November. An early 2018 release date is being mapped out for the effort with more details to come.

yeah that vid is really cool. i just got a chance to listen to the bootleg someone record of the whole set, but the recording quality was pretty bad (iphone recording, unfortunately) so I couldn't really make out much in depth of the new songs.

panda said earlier in the summer that he had 2 collections of music ready, and at least one was already recorded and finished. he called them each somewhere between an ep and an album as they're just under 30 mins each. hoping this means we get one of them sooner than later as well as some shows.

A Perfect Circle have confirmed that they have been in the studio recently with producer Dave Sardy (Marilyn Manson, Helmet) working on a new studio album. That effort is expected out next year through BMG. Frontman Maynard James Keenan recently spoke of that and the band’s newly released single “The Doomed“:

“Fourteen years have passed since we released eMOTIVe. A new release is long overdue. In light of this current difficult and polarized social, spiritual and political climate, we artist types need to open our big mouths and share the light a little louder.”
Guitarist Billy Howerdel added: “Years of life experience has brought our music to this moment. We know where we came from. Deeply connected to the path we’re on.”
