Also I am two episodes into the new Stranger Things. It is great that they just fully leaned into ripping off everything 80s and decided to cast Paul Reiser as his exact same character from Aliens. The reintroduction of Eleven and the Barb c-plot are both awful; feels like the popularity of the show got to the Duffer Brothers and they just threw up some shit fans would love. I'm still watching and enjoying this for some reason? I've heard the back-half is very good so I'm looking forward to that.

He's probably just a creepy foil so we'll ship Hopper and Winona.

I keep seeing headlines like 'Why Bob is the besr character on Stranger Things' so I'm assuming actually contributes something further down the line.

I guess to clarify I think the scene with Barb's parents was well acted and even powerful. But looking at the world of the actual show I think it is odd in a clunky way that the scientists/government didn't tell Barb's parents ANY KIND OF LIE, especially after a significant chunk of S1 was the government working very very hard to sell everyone on Will's 'death.'
Hopper/Eleven is a cute pairing and I can see it opening up Hopper's faults in an interesting way; my problem is with her immediate re-introduction where apparently she suffered all of a ten-minute detour as a result of killing the demigorgon. I guess with the S1 cliffhanger I assumed she was sealed in the Upside-Down but for real she just had to walk down a hallway and boom she's fine. It felt to me like the Duffers kind of backtracked because the fans loved Eleven so much.

I did expect it to take longer for Eleven to come back, but I like everything about it through the 3 episodes so far. The efforts of the Man in Hawkins/larger scale do seem really clunky so far, but it's awesome that the kids, Hopper and Winona Ryder are the only ones that have a clue.

I loved season 2. I don't want to declare it better than season 1 just yet, but the pitfalls of Season 1 to me, are not present this go round. These already established characters are even more fleshed out. Major props to the actor behind Will. Not only does the character get a great story arc, but it's matched by his above average acting. Even Winona Ryder was way more tolerable this time around which made her a more enjoyable and easier to relate to.
It also set up so many possibilities for the 3rd (and hopefully final) season. I'm not too concerned with them paying homage to the 80s, a lot of it was purposeful, so it didn't bother me. Really good season.

I'm only two episodes in as well but Hopper is fine af I have a similar love for his character like I did for Indiana Jones and Han Solo as a kid. Big fan of cool, self-destructive dudes.

And didn't they say they were going to do 4 seasons and be done? I don't remember exactly, but they did put a tentative cap on it.

<Bob gets eviscerated by four demigorgon pups>
Me: Now I feel bad about doubting Bob's intentions. Mrs. DoSo: I'll be the first to admit I was wrong about Bob.

Loved the season. Totally agree that Winona was much better this time around, especially in the final episode.
Also, I think they only included the Barb bits after that character gained so many fans during the first season.

Second season was so much better than the first! Still pretty flimsy plotwise, but that's fine - it was compelling enough to be bingey. They really developed the characters nicely - and pretty evenly across the board - so you actually cared about what happened to each of them.
I only wish I'd finished the season earlier in order to go as bad bitch Jane for Halloween.

Just finished. It's not better than season 1 imo, but it's as good a follow up as they could possibly manage. Had some goofy bits. Overall, I loved it.
