Same. We finished a few days ago and loved it too. I would say that S1 is more effective, but this was a worthy and fun follow-up.

It's weird that season 2 starts off with more table setting than the pilot. Once it gets running , it's a worthwhile sequel, but I was really wondering over the first two episodes.
Lots of unresolved plot points too. Clear season 3 hooks. Bleh.
Maybe I don't remember season 1 correctly, but was everyone this shortsighted, and problem inducing then? For trying to make their arc words 'don't be stupid,' they sure didn't listen.

Last episode was pretty perfect. I'd love for them to end it on that note, but clearly that's not going to happen. Anyway, good season. Some problem spots (I genuinely don't get why Max's brother was a necessary character), but overall much better than the first season.

I will say that at times this show feels like Jurassic Park crossed with The Hangover.

Max herself was kinda pointless. Literally the only plot effect was Lucas being absent from helping Dustin and them getting the brother's car at the end.

It was nice to have an outsider join the group. Clearly the writers didn't know how to integrate her, though.

Everyone was far too split up for most of the season.

Max was important to fuel that whole awkward jr high crush coming of age C story, though.

Max was important to fuel that whole awkward jr high crush coming of age C story, though. Yeah but that didn't really change anything, just added some comedy.

I feel like Billy might become the next "agent" of the mindflayer. He didn't have a lot to do, but I imagine they have something in store for him.

I actually enjoyed this season more than I was expecting. Its definitely the most gruesome of the three. If it is in fact the end (which I don't think it is) l, its suitable.

I'm 6 episodes in, this is by far the darkest season yet. Quality television.

Just finished. It definitely picked up but overall was my least favorite season. Random thoughts. I really wish we got more time with the original 4/5 all together, just everyone together really. We had four different plotlines running for about 6 full episodes and that was a bit long for me. However, every reunion despite how convenient it was for the plot had me grinning ear to ear. They really know how to make an entrance.
Maybe I didn't pick up on this but why did closing the gate kill the Mind Flayer? The whole time I kept waiting to see how the Russians were going to tie in with the Mind Flayer and it seems like they didn't at all, until the gate closed and the Mind Flayer went out, so confused.
Hopper and Joyce stuff was a bit too romcommy for me which is fine if it didn't feel like two of the show's best characters being minimalized to a running gag.
This season did an awesome job of introducing new characters. All of them felt fleshed our and had adequate screen time, very happy about that.
The Neverending Story sing a long was by far my favorite part of the season. It was funny, cute, nostalgic, and just overall good fun, scenes like that are why I fell in love with the show to begin with.
And finally, loved the ending of course. They absolutely nailed it out of the park. I know they'll be more seasons but I do wish it was over here. The kids getting older really makes it lose a lot of its charm imo.

We're 3 eps in so far and I actually like the story so far (and honestly am a sucker for the mall being the centerpiece setting of the season) But Meg said last night, and I agree...its the same shtick over and over. Super predictable show that is only occasionally saved by great characters. Spoilered things below... 1. I threw my hands up in the air when Billy crashes his car and it won't even start up, yet when the monster spits him out, he immediately jumps in the car and speeds off. What's the deal with this?
2. It's ridiculous that this show is in its third season and a main, central character is still telling Joyce Byers she might be crazy for discovering something weird in Hawkins. This is maybe the thing that pulls me out of the show the most. You would think Hopper would give Joyce an ounce more credit, especially since he's clearly into her.
3. Am I picking up on undertones of Will being gay? Mike's dig "Its not my fault you don't like girls" followed by Will hiding inside Castle Byers (metaphor for a closet?) and then destroying it in a frustrated rage...maybe I'm trying to see something that isn't there, but it feels intentional. I suppose that opens up an entire world of metaphors for the upside-down.

I just finished Stranger Things. I'm not crying, you're crying. I was grinning ear to ear the entire time Dustin & Suzie were singing The Never Ending Story song. Possibly the highlight of the entire season.
Hopper is not dead, but was somehow transported to Russia, and is certainly the American the Russian guards were referencing at the end, right?
It was a fantastic season, and I can't get enough of all that 80s nostalgia.

I'm six episodes in - probably my favorite season of the series so far. I love the idea of using Billy as a horror version of a bully.

Also: The trip into Billy's mind was really well done. Only character I've grown tired of is Hopper. I was not a huge fan of last season, so good to see it rebound nicely (so far).

Finished! Thoughts below: - I'm happy they took El's power away because that would have been too easy of a way to end this season. - The Neverending Story song break was incredibly grating and took me out of the episode as soon as it started up. - Hopper was still kind of awful this season. - The mall backdrop was fun as hell for the finale. Overall a really strong season.

We finished last night and I loved it. Some minor gripes, but overall I thought it was a ton of fun and really well done. My take on the ending: My guess is "The American" is Dr. Brenner. It could be Hopper, but I think he's done.
