Suki Waterhouse had a huge crowd. I didn't pay that close attention to any set except for Morgan Wade which was obviously good. Dipped out early to catch Mike and the Moonpies at Joe's on Weed St and then Fred Again... At the Aragon what a night. In the last week I've seen Illenium at Omnia and now Fred Again twice I'm a club rat now. Reposting something I wrote back in January about her. Revisiting it, it’s gotta be a TikTok thing - did the set sound okay? Suki Waterhouse: Sort of like an algorithm-forward Sharon Van Etten? "Good Looking" is a really good song. The rest seems a'ight. But, like, who is this music for, exactly? Each of her top tracks has millions of plays. But her music posted on r/indieheads all have 0 comments. Her album thread r/popheads has 4 comments. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, but I'm always surprised by these artists who have tons of plays, tons of festival bookings - and yet seemingly no one talking about them. She has a successful career as a model / actress / designer so much so that her wikipedia page doesn't even mention her music career! So I'm sure that helps. But this album came out on Sub Pop - was it even on anyone here's radar?

She’s on daisy jones and the six, I think that’s the big draw. I saw her open for FJM it was pretty good, show yesterday was less good

They’ve made at least 2 announcements at Bud Light asking people to back up and save the Lana stans. Stay safe hipsters.

Rina Sawayama is a goddess and only women should make music from here on out.

Lana was great. think that was the largest crowd i've ever seen on the north field. She might have the most insufferable fanbase though. They pushed up to see her and they even pushed to get on the cta lmao. Rina, Yachty and Alvvays were awesome as well. Fun day and weekend

This sounds like a miserable fest, but I'm glad some of y'all had a good time.

This fest suffers big time from "airline mentality" where they keep finding exciting new ways to make the experience progressively worse for the average attendee. Rolling out the expanded capacity in the same year they turned the main fields into super sized VIP areas was a really fucking shitty thing to do.
All that said, Lana made it all worth it. Truly a perfect human being and probably the best of the three times I've seen her although to be fair I was fully blacked out the first time.

The only good set I saw today was RHCP and the DJ at hte Budlight Backyard Lounge who played a dubstep version of the lion king theme. Thanks to Bosma for the free ticket but what a miserable hell hole this fest is.

Flea and Frusciante were on a another level tonight and Kedis is clearly beginning to struggle which leads to the forgone conclusion that they should replace Anthony Kedis with MGK

Day Four thoughts: - Enough already Perry's. We get that you like bass and have to be heard throughout the entire festival grounds.
- John Frusciante man. 'nuff said.
- Dessert Island was a great idea that was really poorly executed.
- All the fun, semi-interesting things this fest used to have have slowly been replaced by sponsor "experiences" that have mile long lines. Chase Sapphire. T-Mobile. Coinbase. Tito's.
- I would have sworn Lolla already spent multiple 100s of thousands of dollars to improve the drainage on the south field. If they did, it was wasted money.

In addition to the new VIP area in the south field, I noticed that VIP on north field now occupies the best shaded space within the festival footprint, along with what used the best portos/bathrooms. Was that also new this year?

Echoing other statements here this fest is kind of a disaster now but I managed to have a great weekend and see a ton of great music. Unclear what next year would have to look like to bring me back as of now but if I continue to win free passes I will consider. Cannot imagine paying money for this and being thrilled at the product.

Were the crowds actually noticeably worse this year than years prior? I was perusing the Lolla subreddit this morning and they seem to be on about the same shit they were like 8 and 9 years ago, but pretending its a new phenomenon b/c of covid isolation or something. It was like the Greatest Hits lmao - crowd trains! teens from the suburbs! pushing and shoving! random stories of people shitting/pissing during sets!

My only real crowd complaint was during the Fred Again set, and I think your point just about summed it up. Over half the people around me (and I was probably 100 yards from the stage) were all just standing around talking through the set. Barely anyone around there danced or anything except for like 2 times during his set. And the majority were the teen to 20-ish bros with basketball jerseys that were the plague of the fest 8 or 9 years ago.

I think the expansion of VIP + the expanded capacity made it more difficult to avoid the awful people and especially at night. The area around Perry's seemed like more of a dumpster fire this year but maybe I just noticed it more since I walked by it often the first few days to cross the park.

Also it was a bit scary to see how many people were carted off during and before Lana' set. Like for a while it seemed like the EMT's couldn't keep up.

I only felt the expanded capacity a few times but if so much space wasn’t blocked off (and also empty) I don’t think it would have felt so awful Lana Del Rey put on the best set of the weekend and I would like to see her 100 more times

This year they moved the south of the bar.

I was talking to my 20yo niece who rode the train back to Naperville on Thursday night and she was complaining about groups of high school boys slamming beers so the HS kids even annoy the college kids.

everyone on the second week of august: no idea how this festival is still afloat, logistically terrible, flooded with drunk teens, nowhere to stand, sound is awful, unbearable perry's bleed, i did manage to not want to kill myself for almost 50 minutes of each day so that was something
everyone in march of the following year: idk there's at least 2 bands i like, i'll be there all 4 days

I've had pretty good luck with talking at Lolla. I haven't been since 2019 but I almost yelled at people during CRJ in 2018. That was about the only time I've been angry.
