Ooooo I forgot about David Byrne. Yeah he makes more sense than Tame Impala.

bird floated the idea of MBV and Byrne headlining. that plus Annie would finally get me back to doing 3 days again.
likely won't happen tho.

FJM is a possibility as well with tour dates next summer plus presumably a new album.

I just have this feeling that MBV end up at Riot Fest.

FJM is a possibility as well with tour dates next summer plus presumably a new album. he'd have to redeem himself and make the new album an ILYHB pt 2 to win em back i assume Missy is always on their radar for hip hop but she's such a wild card with lineups. I'd say Frank is overdue but we say that every year. Tyler or Earl making the leap to headliner next makes a lot of sense.

With those two Aragon shows in March I think Tyler ends up at Lolla or Northcoast.

because they're a gen x shoegaze band. Riot Mike books bands from his era, especially good ones.

I have never seen Riot Mike acknowledge My Bloody Valentine's existence, ever.
Pitchfork had an exclusive interview about a new album as well as a mini-doc on the making of Loveless.
I know you dislike Pitchfork fest but c'mon, let's not kid ourselves about who has the inside track on this one.

Why don’t festivals serve spaghetti? This would be a great fest to eat spaghetti at.

I'm pretty amenable to eating pretty much anything at any time and that sounds so gross.

I've attended the past two years and even if I didn't have media, would have attended. Both are great fests who do an outstanding job filling a lineup on budgets far less than Lolla. Oh, and fwiw, Riot Mike doesn't acknowledge jack shit outside of answering questions via AMA.

fwiw we got to meet Perfume Genius on Saturday and i said next time he's a Lincoln Hall, we'd be there.
he said "oh we'll be back in chicago next summer!"
maybe it's a tour or maybe mamby or lolla tried for it but i'd pencil him in for p4k

A few ideas came to me, but I'm not great at predicting festivals but I got to thinking about a few things. Obviously they wouldn't all happen b/c of the way they do headliners.
- 2018 is the 10 year anniversary of Microcastle/Weird Era Cont by Deerhunter. I know they don't do those "full album" sets anymore, but DH hasn't played since 2011 and bands like Dirty Projectors and Beach House have played multiple times. If this did happen, I'd be for sure in.
- John Cale hasn't brought the Velvet Underground anniversary shows to Chicago yet, and while this year was the 50th anniversary of VU & Nico, next year is the 50th of White Light/White Heat.

Do not tease me with a John Cale doing Velvet Underground songs set

would be too good if they brought those john cale velvet underground shows here. would need a big #2 but that'd be a good friday setup.
deerhunter makes a lot of sense this year though not as a headliner, and just a normal set.

I think if Brian Wilson can play P4k, than John Cale isn't that much of a stretch.

An evening with David Byrne headlining and John Cale subbing would be something.
