Oh I meant to mention this last night. In the past when I've had a box at Thalia, we had waitress service and a little table with carafes of water and glasses. We didn't have either last night and I wondered if they discontinued that service? Or if it was just a Tuesday and they weren't staffed for it. Either way it kinda sucked. Does anyone know?

Either way it'd be worth asking Thalia direct via email/tweet so they know that people somewhat expect that service at a high ticket price.

Agreed. I think it's worth looking into. Haven't done a box in a while, but I'd be less inclined to do so in the future if those things weren't a part of it.

We never had the carafes of water but I'd be big mad if there was no waitress. There has never not been one for me.

Thanks guys. I think I will write them. We have a box for Built to Spill next month so we'll see.

I know I’m the last one to see Paul McCartney but whatever that show was so great. Hit after hit after hit. So many fireworks indoors.

We need another round of Macca Wrigley shows. I've got a hankering for a good Hendrix story.

There was a guy in the crowd with a sign that said this was his 123rd McCartney show and I just imagined what it would be like to hear all those stories that many times

inter arma put on their best set ive seen so far. they just seemed much tighter than before and it helps that the new album is much better than the last few. they also added a theremin player and bruce lamont for saxophone solos.
thantifaxanth ruled. first time greg and i saw them at livewire it was just 2 guys in cloaks who were sorta doing their early noise stuff. this time it was a 4 piece (in spooookier cloaks!) that were doing a much heavier headbanging set. they also came out to pitch-shifted versions of "with arms wide open" and "dont stop believing" so they automatically win.

Continuing the theory that you hate anything British that isn’t Radiohead My friend believes the same, but a British band made my favorite album of 2018

This forum owes it to itself to see Kevin Morby in a non-festival setting. Waxahatchee sung on a song tonight and I’m now ready to call “Dorothy” a song of the decade

Jonathan Van Ness was really fun! I didn’t really know what to expect but it was an interesting format that ended up really working. I can’t remember the name of the first comedian he brought out for the life of me but she was super funny. He also brought out Jaboukie White-Young who I’m a fan of so that was really exciting. Jonathan’s comedy was story based and disorganized but hilarious and fun to listen to.
One note, there was an extremely loud and participatory woman a few rows behind us which was quite possibly the most annoying thing in the world. I have no idea what it is about the Chicago theater that makes people yell at whoever is on stage while simultaneously having absolutely fucking nothing to say, but this is the third show I’ve been to there in the past couple years that has had this problem. I do not fucking get it.
Anyways it was a good night and we were in the second row behind the pit and my wife got to shake his hand at the end so all in all I got her a pretty great graduation/passing her licensing exam gift

Jimmy Dale Gilmore & Dave Alvin were fantastic at bluesfest yesterday and I don't think I will ever go to blues fest again what a nightmare.

Vampire Weekend on Friday night was amazing...Ezra sounded great, the crowd was engaged and their stage setup was pretty cool. The best I've seen them.
But that was only to be topped by Lizzo at Indy Pride on Saturday. Crowd was nuts, she was her usual energetic self, sounded amazing and was a perfect way to finish up what was a great Pride.

Ya, it's pretty great how much better Vampire Weekend is live with this new band. They played Kids Dont Stand a Chance which I was very happy about.
Also The Armory in Minneapolis is an amazing venue

there probably arent 10 better bands than superchunk objectively Yea I'm in town for the weekend and that show ruled. Was surprised to see Jason Narducy on bass instead of Laura - is she just not on this run of dates? I guess that explains why/how they're playing Foolish anniversary shows.

Narducy has been their touring bassist since they reunited. Laura has tininitis.

Jason is usually their bass player at this point, when he's not out with Bob.
