Death Cab were on point last night. They were into the show and brought lots of energy, it was a great crowd as well. Chance did not show up. That was my first time seeing Beach Bunny, who was also excellent. My buddy ran into her at Wrigleyville Dogs after the show. She's just like us! Looking at the setlist this morning bummed me out. Would've liked to have seen that.

Bryan Ferry still sounds great at 70-something. His band is tight too. It is not Avalon in full, which is fine, as the man has hits for days and a few covers for good measure too. I told a bartender at intermission that I had a strokes show but not a Bryan show under my belt and the old folks in line behind me clapped

Yeah, we saw him last time he came through and the show was top notch. Glad you enjoyed.

I think I’m doing pretty well in my “see only favorites and acts you’ve never seen before” concert resolution this year

I don't know that I would respond well to being clapped at in public.

Sharon Van Etten was excellent as expected last night. Played most of her new album thankfully, and a few good old ones of course. One surprise was she played a cover of Fade Into You which was nearly perfect. I had a major fanboy moment when she sang part of Seventeen while looking directly at me. Swoon...
Plus, Lincoln Hall used my pic from the show on ig, so that was pretty cool.
Not sure of the board feeling on Dehd, but I was not a fan at all. Thankfully they only played for like a half hour.

Got free tickets to a Steve Gunn show with Hand Habits last night through Oh My Rockness and they were all awesome! Glad I got to catch Steve with a full band touring these new songs - the jam on New Familiar with the absolute highlight. He had James Elkington(!) touring with him as a second guitarist and they traded off licks on “Lightning Fields” too. Very fun night.

Who’s the headliner on this Beck x Cage x Spoon your? Trying to figure if I’m going to drive so I can leave early if Cage is playing last.

The Spoon / Cage / Beck show last night was great. Cage were as energetic as ever, they always put on a fantastic show even though I don't love their music (outside of Trouble and Cigarette Daydreams which are just great songs).
Beck sounded great, was energetic and engaging, and man his lights/laser show was massive. Loved it.
Just hate that damn venue. It is such a pain to get to, and such a pain to leave as well. Wish this show was at White River State Park downtown.

The real Lollapalooza aftershow was the Amazing Acrocats in Madison. These cats can do everything. They jump, they play music, it's great. They're on their way to Chicago and folks, they are unmissable. Check it out. circuscats.com/acrocats.html

Saw Condo Fucks (Yo La Tengo) do a spectacular(ly loud) set of garage rock covers for free on Sunday afternoon. You only gotta peep the setlist to know it was lit. One of my favorite shows of the year, no doubt.

Cake were fun as usual. They did an intermission which was a first of the 3x I've seen them. Tonight's tree giveaway was a cherry tree.
This was my first Out of Space show, and I really enjoyed Canal Shores as a venue. It's literally right off the Central stop of the Purple line, so very convenient coming from the city. I would describe it as better version of Ravinia. No pavilion, everyone can see the stage, blanket/lawn chair set up, less pretentious, and you can bring your own food. Booze for sale rather than BYOB but I'm fine with that trade off for the rest.
Fun night in Evanston!
