The 1970s were a cool decade. You can read more about the music discussed here, and for history about the decade, you can visit your local library, or ask 10:15 or some other oldster who was alive about it this weekend at Riot Fest.
Normally this would be the start of a whole big ass thing, but there will be no big ass thing this time around. The original idea was a radio broadcast recording, and then a podcast recording, and by the time both of those were determined to be "not happening" it was "late August" and, well, here we are. I just am gonna give you the back 50 now, and will rollout the top 50 tomorrow with little if any pomp and circumstance. Some of you may have questions like "did you do the math right?" and "why did live albums count?" and "how much would this list have changed if Goodson finished his list?" and I promise I will ignore all of those because I am not a handsomely paid accountant who stares at spreadsheets all day.
So, here's 100-51 below. As per how I do things, ties were broken by number of lists an album appeared on. Spelling and grammar mistakes are my own.
The top 50 will start coming out after 8:30am tomorrow morning. Thank you to everyone who voted and participated in the discussion of this project.
Edit: me, after typing all that out, looking at it again, and still having to edit it 2-3 times over:
