I'll go first: several years after the fact I found out a lot of my cousins were at this show, which explained some stuff. Aside from oranges and the space program, they are probably Florida's greatest export. Weathered is one of 20 CDs I still have that I kept in a CD storage binder I would on the school bus with my books and dread. I will always have a stupid lil spot in my heart for "With Arms Wide Open". I would like to pay $20 to see this show in Tinley- I just looked it up, and it's on a Friday, actually no I'm not doing that. Creed is Fine.

I never hated them, but I never particularly liked them either. They were an easy target, but I never wanted to punch my radio whenever they came on (Except for 'With Arms Wide Open'. Fuck that song.).
Maybe if I was 10 or 15 years younger I'd appreciate them more.
Edit: When I used to get Rolling Stone, I remember one writer described Human Clay as "a bundle of Bush licks and neo-Rush lyrics."

Thought the question was Is Creed God, which seemed a more intriguing thought.

Creed took defining elements of a genre, exaggerated them tremendously, and enjoyed massive if brief success. They are easy to make fun of because of Scott Stapp's voice, but Creed laughed it all the way to the bank. Bands tried to sound like Creed, and the radio played those bands. You can not like Creed (I didn't / don't) but it's also not like, out of this world to say that they weren't bad.
However, not every band that "wasn't bad" is worthy of a reunion / critical reappraisal. I would include Creed on that list.
Summary: Creed is fine.

i saw an alter bridge show earlier this year and they were fantastic big dumb rock. the band is tight and they're 3/4 of creed, so i guess creed is fine if they have a different singer.
plus, creed apparently were motivators for the texas rangers winning the world series so i'm in debt to them for that.

i don't think it's ever a good sign that, when you see a creed shirt in the wild, you wonder if it's a joke or the person is really a fan.

I've noticed a few shirts like that at Pitchfork fests over the years. I have a Lilith Fair shirt I found at a used clothing store, I don't remember if I ever wore that to a Pitchfork fest or not. (I did go to the Lilith Fair, twice)

higher and one last breath rip. my sacrifice is pretty good. with arms wide open is actually worse than you remember; only redeeming qualities are the bridge and the fact that it's fun to slur along to in a scott stapp voice. you'd think creed would have more than four songs but it turns out that's it.

Creed is a pretty good band that has been elevated by 20 years of garbage popular modern rock music. They seem like an oasis in the desert at this point in time.
A band that had convictions and seemed to care what they were making music about is something that doesn't exist at their level of popularity anymore.

sorry, my brain broke and i genuinely thought you were insinuating that their music was about things related to scott stapp's legal issues and was curious to hear you elaborate since the subject matter of their music seems to be deeply spiritual / religious which they deny being entirely

Creed are better than The National. i think this depends on what metric you’re using to judge them. peak the national has like, twice as many good songs as creed did. but on the other hand, at least creed had the decency to stop making music once it was clear they were no longer capable of producing anything worthwhile. meanwhile the national have been chugging along for the past decade for whatever reason
