Yeah I have a playlist on Spotify for the best songs I come across, and then that's usually a good reference point for albums. I tried using a spreadsheet a couple years ago but I wasn't really great at keeping it updated.

I have my running online Trapper Keeper spreadsheet for live shows, but for some reason I've never really thought about doing one for records. My listening habits shifted so dramatically when I switched from physical media to digital files; I feel like I'm still sort of struggling with the best way to keep on top of new stuff while being mindful of going back and listening to older stuff I love.

That's the big issue with me, I've forgotten about so many albums that I really enjoy. I'm trying to just shuffle play my entire library more so they come up.

Because none of this is too obsessive at all, I usually keep 3 new albums that I'm rotating through at a time. I only listen to those albums once a day and listen to something older in between the listens to new albums.

I also make sure that I'm not listening to more than one new album per genre at a time to keep things straight.
