As I've said before, it took me two decades to appreciate the Beastie Boys, and that's even with owning Licensed to Ill on cassette. There ain't no way I'd ever think eminem (or any other caucasian rapper other than El-P) is any good. Why did I skip lolla 2011 and lolla 2014? because eminem headlined those years, and I didn't want any of my money going to him.

I mean…..if the question is, “Is Eminem a good rapper” in the sense of whether or not he is literally good at rapping, then you would have to be pretty ignorant to answer no.
But I assume we mean something like, “Are his albums good” or “Is his existence a pop culture net positive”…..in which case I guess it’s more complicated.
But yeah Eminem is Pretty Good even if he’s not my really my thing.

My favorite thing about Eminem is that the dude is almost always wearing/performing in a t-shirt with a classic hip-hop album cover on it. Some of these I bet he gets printed custom. I once saw a gallery of like 30-40 different examples, but I can't find it rn. Best I can do are little articles like this: hiphop24x7.com/news/eminem-reveals-why-he-wears-t-shirts-with-pictures-of-classic-rap-album-covers/?expand_article=1 A gallery of his t-shirts would essentially be the hip-hop equivalent of Kurt Cobain's 50 Favorite Albums list lmao. Kinda cool. For that alone he earns a spot in the "Fine" category. |

Sometimes you fall off with an artist and don't follow them anymore, but I've listened to every Eminem album he's released, just to see what he's up to. But after Music to Get Murdered By, I'm done. It doesn't seem like he's having much fun anymore.

he's created an astounding number of songs that are among the worst things I've ever heard but the highs are pretty high. I don't know if he has any albums that I'd spin front to back these days, but he's produced enough great tracks that I'd grudgingly slot him in as "good" even though he likely deserves to be docked for, again, the sheer number of truly atrocious songs and albums he has produced.
