We're gonna walk over in time for The Nude Party. Hopefully the sound is better tonight. The New Pornographers was literally the quietest outdoor show I've ever seen.
Usually we can hear Square Roots headliners at home by Western and Irving but you could barely hear the band by the soundboard on Friday.

Usually we can hear Square Roots headliners at home by Western and Irving but you could barely hear the band by the soundboard on Friday. On Friday I had to walk around and found one spot on the sidewalk behind the tents where the sound was actually good. It was just awful in the corner where my wife and kids were

Agreed the sound for New Pornos was way too low and there were chompers all over the parking lot which didn't help. Luckily it was a relatively light crowd and it was very easy to move close to the front where the sound was much better and there was considerably less chomping going on.
I was there during the day yesterday and the sound from both stages seemed fine. Props to Square Roots having one of the best kid's areas of any street fest.
Also, was very happy to see they finally did away with that terrible ticketing system for drinks. The orange fizz from Maplewood is delicious btw.

would lower volume for headliners be related to acts playing past 10? just curious if they are taking advantage of some volume loophole to go past regular curfew. new pornos blew through it on friday, didn't stay for all of x last night but maybe heard them as i got home around 10.

The issue is the speaker stacks and where they are aiming them. They are only aiming them directly at the sound booth, so everything outside that zone just sounds terrible.

Sound was great for big star tn other than some on stage monitor issues but it prob helped that there were only like 600 people there.

Sound quality was night and day compared to Friday. Fun weekend overall. I was a huge custy and bought way too many bars of soap and candles.

That was very special to see and hear. Everyone who was there was very into it, even if it was a smaller crowd. Most importantly the weather held off

i was like 15 feet in front of the sound guy for big star last night, so that's why i thought it sounded way better than for other acts in the parking lot stage. overall, pretty solid weekend of music. jon spencer was excellent on saturday too.

It's unfortunately not the Gnarls Barkley reunion that America is desperate for, but Ceelo Green is headlining the Taste Sept 6.
Yahritza y Su Esencia on the 7th, and Atlas Genius on the 8th

taste of Chicago from memory in no particular order: The Replacements, Paul Westerberg w/ Tommy Keene, Wilco, NRBQ, Del Amitri, The Insiders, Robert Cray Band, Timbuk 3, Barenaked Ladies, Tragically Hip, They Might Be Giants, Material Issue, Hank Williams Jr, Tricia Yearwood, Clint Black, Leann Rimes, Aaron Tippin, EPMD, The Refreshments, Michael McDonald, Isley Brothers, Frankie Beverly and Maze, My Morning Jacket, Mike Doughty from Soul Coughing, Roderigo Y Gabriela, Sheryl Crow, Diamond Rio, The Lemonheads, Brandi Carlisle. And a bunch of others.
no Grant Hart, Tweet. Hart did open for Buffalo Tom the day after Smashing Pumpkins alleged last show at Metro. Husker Du played a bunch of Chicago shows, but the only one I was at was at the Riviera for the tour for the album Warehouse, which they played straight through.
