Pretty much where I'm at. Fun fact: both bands released albums every single year from 1978-1981. They're both machines

I feel certain DEVO will win since they're considered to be much cooler than The Cars, but I personally like more Cars songs than DEVO songs, so I went with The Cars - not that I feel great about it.
I was huge into Heartbreak City when it came out and they were my second-ever concert. I remember enjoying the show and hearing someone complain as we were leaving t that the band just stood there and all the songs sounded exactly like the record. I definitely came to appreciate what that person was saying as I saw more and more shows.
Their hits being such well-crafted songs makes it hard for me to dismiss them entirely. That said, with the possible exception of "Drive", their tunes are devoid of emotion which ultimately relegates them to the "not particularly noteworthy" category in my estimation.
Also, "The Cars" is a stupid fucking name for a band.

I voted Cars because I grew up loving them but their Lolla '11 set was so very sad to watch.

CRACK. THAT. WHIP.
But for real, Are We Not Men? is better than anything The Cars ever did, killer singles be damned.

I voted Cars because I grew up loving them but their Lolla '11 set was so very sad to watch. I enjoyed that set but, Ihad low expectations for that set since they were never known for being a very good live act,

Devo was probably the more influential band, but if I was on a long road trip and there was nothing but Cars and Devo CDs, I'd be listening to the Cars.

Devo is better live, at least these days, and I like them more for some reason, but like others have said, The Cars have those great hits...

I've never listened to an album by either band. I kind of hate The Cars just based on their radio singles.

I'm only familiar with The Cars and Candy-O but both albums are front to back loaded with bangers.

I have a 2-CD Cars Anthology album, and almost every song on there is a gem. So I voted for them, although D-E-V-O is great as well. Their Lolla set in '10 was fun.
