But also I guess we can talk about real issues in the community too. im down for that. speaking of, i was just told by a coworker that i need remove another coworker from facebook asap because he saw my pic of my bf and i and he's "very judgmental." (i'm not removing him. he can deal with it and remove me if he wants and if he brings it up im just gonna keep talking about it until he leaves) "let him judge."

Do you remember what it was like when Halford came out? There was this huge backlash in the metal community (also, homophobia in metal is a great topic for this thread) and I still remember the exact words of this guy they interviewed on MTV News at the time, saying it was just a publicity stunt: "I think it's disgusting, it's all for publicity. What's he doing now, industrial? Where it's acceptable to be gay, or to be weird." well i was born in 89 and i think he came out in 88, so. but yeah homophobia in metal (certainly whenever judas priest comes up in general) is a batshit argument that i have to deal with way too often. was informed by a local rock musician that halford was gay, yrs before he officially came out as such. local dude indicated that everyone in the metal community knew halford was gay, but kept their freakin' mouths shut about it, because that's what people did before [society turned into modern paparazzi culture].

Not really true. kd lang was already out by the time "Constant Craving" was released, so there was never really a time that she was famous and still closeted, but there were rumors that Melissa Etheridge was a lesbian way back around the time of her first Grammy nomination in the late '80s, which she didn't confirm until like '93.
