That's right, we're comparing fire hazards on this go round!
Who you got and why?

Aragon because I like to be able to see acts when I go to see them.

If it weren't for the Riv, we wouldn't have had our favorite Macklemore board meme of all time.

I've only been to three venues in the city, the riv, the aragon, and schuba's.
i liked the riv more than the aragon but schuba's more than both of them.

I'm old now so I voted Riv because sometimes you just need to sit the fuck down.

Aragon for the show but Riv has a better bathroom situation.

I've seen Black Keys, PJ Harvey, Prince, The Replacements, Soul Asylum, Wilco and more at the Riv from a variety of vantage points and I've never had an issue with sightlines, so I don't get the hatred for that venue. Admittedly, I haven't seen a show at Aragon in 25 years, but back then the sound sucked and they had rows of metal chairs on the G.A. floor which also sucked. Riv gets my vote.

In and out. Further clarification is for sold out/very crowded shows. Aragon is a nightmare between sets.

Riv. Sightlines are bad, but I do like sitting in the balcony, the sound is good for a room that size, and if you stand off to one of the sides on the floor it's usually a pretty decent experience.
The Aragon has gotten better in recent years as far as sound, but it's the hottest room on the planet, water is $5, it's impossible to leave when the show is over and historically has had some of the worst-sounding shows I've ever seen.

A 312 at Aragon costs $14 in 2018 Now to be fair to the Aragon, that's for a 22oz pour Now to be fair to everyone else, that's still horseshit (both the beer and the price of it!)

Has there ever been a thread where we just rank all the Chicago venues? If not, there should be.

The Aragon is so pretty but the Riv sucks less and tends to book more things I would attend.
Did you know the terra cotta on the outside of the Aragon tells the story of Ferdinand and Isabella?
