The eclipse was awesome. We had all the students out on the soccer field and had enough glasses for everybody. The lighting was so surreal.

eclipse was neat. 94% totality in okc, temperature dropped 6 degrees in 30 minutes, had hundreds of students gathering all around on campus to watch (all wearing the giveaway glasses i designed ;–) it only got dim in downtown kc but the temperature change was notable and a little off-putting, in a sense? i think the eclipses are super cool but also carry a weird element of dread?

I couldn't find my glasses from the last eclipse

I figured it'd be more noticeable in Denver but didn't really get much more than a slight change in sunlight.

Eclipse was very cool. So many people left the offices in the loop to check it out.

It was super cloudy here but still got a nice look at it between the clouds. Something like 90% coverage

We got something like 90% coverage here in NYC. Noticed the change in temperature for sure. The overall light at/near max coverage was reminiscent of the orange-ish glow from that one day last year when we had severe smoke from the Canadian wildfires. I was able to watch the various stages from a bedroom window, then popped up onto the roof when it was at max coverage around 3:25pm. Cool stuff.
I had last minute eclipse fever for about an hour yesterday. Started scheming ways to get to and stay overnight in Buffalo, Rochester or Watertown but dropped it when I saw cloud cover was forecast to be 60-100% in those areas.

Haha yea that’s what everyone at work was saying too when we went out onto Columbia’s quad to see it. The eeriness of the air/light felt just like that wildfire day. Very neat to see - also very neat to experience a positive/fun event simultaneously with so many people. Something very nice in experiencing communal wonder.

The 2017 partial eclipse in Chicago maxed out at just under 87% obscuration compared to yesterday when it maxed out closer to 94%. Maybe that extra seven percent made a difference?

I’m at a bar to watch some soccer and the guy next to me realized that the change fees to push his flight back were $500 only after he had already purchased the new flight. He is now desperately trying to reverse the charges. It is Tuesday.

Southwest Airlines- Get on the plane already!

Jason Isbell seems kinda not cool over the JTE song

A couple things about that:
-JTE’s widow already came out with a second statement saying that Steve Earle had actually granted permission for the song after Isbell reached out to him.
-Their kid might be a gd genius, but I don’t buy for a second that she picked up the references to her in the song based on one listen

If steve signed off on it I guess that’s fine. The commercialization of pain is the American way but reading about it last night/this morning made me feel weird

Teachers can request music to play during our passing periods, and today "Flashing Lights" was playing after 1st period. I sent a group chat to a bunch of teachers half-jokingly asking "Which one of you requested Kanye the day Passover starts?"
The assistant principal came to my room like 5 minutes later profusely apologizing. I am going to leverage this opportunity to play Phish the rest of the year.

Y'all just ignoring the best Biden news. He thinks cannibals ate his uncle.
Dude needs to embrace the cannibalism story and the fact that his dog likes to bite cops and he'll win reelection for sure.

He also is attempting to ban employer non-competes which is one of the best things he's done.
Still deserves to be sent to the Hague, of course.

Joe Brandon banned TikTok This isn't exactly accurate. It could be banned if ByteDance doesn't divest within 9 months to a year. Also this will be tied up in the courts for a long time.
