There are probably some community outliers, but in Illinois the quiet laws say between 10PM and 7AM.
My neighbor on the West has his hired guns out at 7:30 every Thursday and the neighbor to my East has his out at 7AM every Friday. It'll be fine when everything is closed up with the AC on, but fuck me for trying to sleep with the windows open.

This world is stacked against those of us who like to sleep in.

I'm jealous of people who can still sleep in. I wake up before 7am every day without an alarm no matter what time I go to sleep. It's a curse.

Spotify announced on Monday it is increasing the cost of its premium subscription plans in the U.S., marking the Swedish music-streaming company’s second price hike in a year.
U.S. Spotify users will be notified about the new change to their subscription over the next month.
Shares of Spotify were up more than 4% Monday morning.
For users in the U.S., an “Individual” plan will cost $11.99. A “Duo” plan will cost $16.99, and a “Family” plan will cost $19.99. The “Student” plan will still cost $5.99.
Spotify said it is raising prices so the company can “continue to invest in and innovate on our product features,” according to a blog post.
In July 2023, Spotify increased the price of its Individual offering to $10.99. It also increased the prices of its Duo plan, Family plan and Student offering to $14.99, $16.99 and $5.99, respectively. The company said the market landscape has “continued to evolve” since Spotify launched, according to a release at the time.

do some schools still allow alumni to keep their .edu email address? mine was inactivated a month after graduating, but i have a few friends who still had their .edu email years after leaving school.

Probably easier to just switch which I’m seriously thinking about again
Only problem, maybe, would be moving all my playlists over that I’ve had for a decade

I think it categorizes differently because a lot of the stuff I used my .edu email address for discounts on was wiped the June after I graduated

Guess I better turn the music down while I'm gardening at night

Seriously everyone just drop Spotify and use Tidal. The artists get more money, and it's pretty much the same selection of music

If anything I would just do Apple Music and that way everything is owned by one corporation. This is the world we live in I guess

i use spotify too but over the last 6 months or so the algorithm just keeps getting more and more goofy with its suggestions. it used to be pretty spot-on based on what i'd listened to in the past but not so much now. i don't use playlists but listen to a lot of the daily mixes (and albums i seek out specifically). not sure if apple music will be better?

At a local brewery, and the bartender is playing their Spotify DJ...this feels mildly voyeuristic
Highlights so far have been Thomas Dolby, Flo Rida, some random butt rock, and that Bang a Gong song (Power Station, I think?)

It's crazy what a difference a few miles makes, we really haven't heard the cicadas at all by our house yet this year, even though we live near a forest preserve. But I went into work by Northbrook today and it sounds like a damn alien invasion out here

I live in a decently-wooded area of the KC metro and have not seen or heard a single cicada and its starting to actually kinda piss me off

I hadn't seen a single cicada until I went to Des Plaines this weekend. As soon as I got off the freeway I could hear them, and then it was like being engulfed in a cloud. Bizarre
