I guess there was a shooting on Northwesterns Campus. Details are sparse. apparently the call saying there was a man with a gun on campus was a hoax. fucked up. TIL what " swatting" is. :/

lmao Vince Staples has launched a GoFundMe, seeking to raise $2 million for his early retirement. In an explainer video, Staples says, “We’ve gotten a lot of complaints about our recent show performances.” In response, he announces that he will use the money he raises to “shut the fuck up forever.” “No songs, no interviews, no interviews, no anything,” he says. “Get off my dick or fund my lifestyle,” he continues. “The choice is yours.” In further detail, he elaborates that the money will be used to fund the following items:
[/i][li] Move to Palmdale
[/li]
[li] Buy a Honda[/li]
[li] Year supply of soups for the homies locked down[/li]
[li] Buy a puppy[/li]
[/ul]
[/quote] Last week, Vince Staples launched a GoFundMe page seeking to raise $2 million for his early retirement. It later appeared the campaign was a promotional tool for his new single, “Get the Fuck Off My Dick.” After the page was briefly taken down and restored, Staples has now announced that he will be canceling the campaign for good and plans to refund all the donations. The campaign raised a total of $2,022. Staples added, “I am also personally matching the donations made and donating the full amount to the Michelle Obama library of Norf Long Beach.”

Hey guys help me build a bridge and get over this:
So I am seeing some friends next weekend, we've all known each other a long time and we live all over the country so it's not often more than a couple of us can get together. There is one person also in the group who I and another person used to be very close with, but over the last year or two she's sort of drifted away from us. At first I tried to check in, invite her to things, but she would either flake (one time I flew to Baltimore in part because she said she'd be joining me and another friend for the weekend, but she was a no call no show) or cry poor and say she couldn't come, but then we'd see her going on a different expensive trip (think Disney). So I kind of accepted that she was just done with the friendship outside of the occasional social media comment, which honestly was a little hurtful but these things happen, people move on. The other person she was close to felt similarly and we've talked about it, and decided we just have to Elsa let it gooooo.
So this morning this woman checked into a group chat the rest of us have (she hasn't checked in in months) and saw that four of us were planning to get together next weekend, and said she'd like to join us. The others were not as close to her as I was, so they haven't been feeling snubbed, and they were all excited for her to come. However, I'm annoyed. I realize she'll probably flake and even if she does meet up with us it's probably just for dinner, but I feel like I want to use my words and let her know I got hurt feelings. I don't want to do anything to ruin the weekend though so I will probably just keep my mouth shut? Idk.

It seems like go into the weekend with no expectations of her showing up and don't like change your plans for her, so if she doesn't no harm no foul, and if she does and the time feels right to confront her about it privately in person confront her about it privately in person.

Yeah I agree with Rango. A large group confrontation is probably not a great idea, but if you get the opportunity I don’t think it’s unreasonable to address your problems with her privately. I mean with my limited information it sounds like your friend may have some sort of other personal problems that have made her tap out of the group for a while. Whatever reasoning she may have, it wasn’t right to do it and it makes sense that it was so hurtful. It doesn’t feel good to be ghosted. It’s possible that she wasn’t aware she was doing it, or wasn’t aware she was giving off the vibes she didn’t want to be around people. Regardless, it would be worthwhile to communicate with her if you can while she’s there.

I also like this choice.

Just wow ---- NY Times/Upshot - Extensive Data Shows Punishing Reach of Racism for Black Boys in America Most white boys raised in wealthy families will stay rich or upper middle class as adults, but black boys raised in similarly rich households will not. Though black girls and women face deep inequality on many measures, black and white girls from families with comparable earnings attain similar individual incomes as adults.www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/03/19/upshot/race-class-white-and-black-men.html Can't stop thinking to those infographics, especially the first one...

love good aeg/live nation drama: Ozzy Osbourne Sues AEG Over Conditional Booking TacticsOzzy Osbourne has filed a class action antitrust lawsuit against AEG, THR reports. The suit alleges that the international entertainment giant is illegally tying the booking of its London and Los Angeles venues with something called the “Staples Center Commitment.” The commitment, the complaint alleges, prohibits artists from playing the O2 Arena in London unless they agree to play the Staples Center during their L.A. tour stop. While the complaint notes that the O2 Arena is the “only indoor arena in London with the capacity to host major concerts,” it points out that the Forum in Inglewood is less than 10 miles away from the Staples Center.
Osbourne’s lawyers call the tactic an “illegal tying practice” and claim that AEG is able to “coerce artists” into signing the agreement because of the company’s market power. By signing the agreement, the complaint claims, artists lose “the benefits of free and open competition between Staples and other competing venues such as the Forum.” The lawsuit seeks to nullify the Staples Center Commitment for Osbourne and any other artist who has signed it. Pitchfork has reached out to AEG representatives for comment. Read the full complaint.
Osbourne’s management at Live Nation signed the agreement in the process of booking his upcoming farewell tour, No More Tours 2. (It’s worth noting that the Forum is co-owned by Irving Azoff, the former head of Live Nation who has feuded with AEG.) Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife and manager, has called the Staples Center Commitment “blackmail.”

I know "tying" is illegal in my industry, I'm not sure if there are any sort of rules or regs preventing it in the music business. It's worth taking a shot though, I remember hearing about other artists complain about the exact same thing before.

I don't know all the details on this one either - but I do know that the road of those opposing Sharon Osborne is littered with corpses. Guessing that they settle out of court.

Anyone going to their local version of the March For Our Lives today? I’m pretty sure I’m gonna go to the Peoria one today, since it looks to be very well organized like a lot of the other marches I’ve been to here.

Yeah as it turns out the roads are waaaaaaaaay too dangerous for us to go out today which is a bummer. We spun out earlier while running some errands.

Great turnout at the Denver march. Helps that it was about 70 degrees.
