I went to an Ikea for the first time this weekend. Thought it was pretty cool, and was surprised how relatively inexpensive a lot of the merchandise was.
Anyone ever eaten in their cafeteria? How's the food?

How's the food? I think it's pretty good, especially for the price. The meatballs with the sauce and cranberries are delicious.

I would've bought some meatballs, but this Ikea was 2 hours away. Maybe next time I'll bring a cooler.

Splendid. Surely a key consideration when you relocated.

Splendid. Surely a key consideration when you relocated. Ha I would be lying if I said I didn't consider it. My key thing was that I wanted to be a couple of stops off of the Metra line (different from CTA).

Moving just sucks, but it is over. Well, except for the 50 boxes of crap I threw in the basement and I am inclined to leave for my kids to sort out after I die. I am out of the slums and have my own place. Feels good.
Learned two lessons: always pack the toilet paper in the first boxes you move and always clearly label the box with the coffee filters in it.

So did you use coffee filters as toilet paper or not?

So did you use coffee filters as toilet paper or not? Four days later and I still haven't found the coffee filters. My kids will probably find them in one of the basement boxes in 20 years. Oh, and Kleenex is a poor substitute. For both.

Touring child care facilities is bizarre and kind of stressful. The one we went through today was pretty much a Portlandia episode.

Touring child care facilities is bizarre and kind of stressful. The one we went through today was pretty much a Portlandia episode. Congrats. One thing we never thought to ask about (assuming your kid will be there more than a year) was their plan to move kids from one classroom to another as they age. Our daughter got stuck in her class because they didn't have space to move her into a class with older kids. Doesn't sound like a big deal but a 3 year old (and 3.5 by the time we left) has very different needs than a 2 year old. We were actually forced to switch schools (which has turned out to be a good thing) but it was pretty stressful.
